Something's Going to Happen, Something Wonderful

I actually like the 2010 suit better. Looks more real and less fantasy-like, IMO.

BLASSSSSSSPHEMY! :cry

Well to be fair, the 2001 suits as originally designed, are more of a skintight "mechanical pressure" type of suit... as opposed to a bulky, Michelin-man-looking, inflated-with-air pressurized type of suit, which is what the suits in the "2010" film look like.

My problem with 2010 (and I don't mean for this to devolve into a hate thread, I just want to make a point :lol) is that the tech that Hyams came up with, looked like the Eighties. Far less "futuristic" than 2001 had been.

For example the Russian and American space suits used on the Leonov, looked much like Space Shuttle suits used at the time.

Even the re-created sets of the Discovery, looked far more mundane than they did in the original film... in 2010, the ship was suddenly full of CRT glass-screen monitors instead of the rear-projection flatscreens seen originally.

I thought it was supposed to be a Battlestar Galactica reference. Kara's been to Earth! :lol

But let us not talk falsely now. The hour's getting late. :sleep

Go watch both these films now and see just how incredibly dated they are. Blade Runner is another one: flying cars everywhere but they still have phone booths.

True. In 30 years most sci fi will seem quaint like in 2001/2010 and actually 2010 isn't that bad and i'm amazed the effects still look pretty good.
