Something out of Nothing - Budget Builds lets see them!

I uselly make budget builds. I Did two mandir helmets in the past, a custom lightsaber, some props for larps and many more. All on a budget (read: only stuff I already had). Currently I'm working on a e-11 blaster, only thing I bought was a new pvc pipe because I destroyed the one I started with.

I really like to make things out of nothing. Can't upload pics with my foon. Maybe when I get home and remember to put them on here.

That looks great. I made one very similar using laundry soap containers and stuff. I gave it to a kid after the party was over, he loved it. No sure how his parents felt LOL.

I love this kind of thread! It's what I've enjoyed about the RPF for years now!

Mouse Droid - $50.00 for an RC car from Walmart, body is foam core, circuit boards on sides are foam core with fun foam "chips", and left-over pvc pipe and ball-point pens for greeblies on top. About $65 total.

Leia Blaster from a broken airsoft Beretta, pvc pipe, an old guitar cord, and a flash suppressor I machined out of resin on the lathe. The blaster isn't bent, it's the camera lens. All scrap, so pretty much $0.00

Not really out of nothing, but budget build Yoda saber. Bolsey flash on ebay $29.99, resin yoda saber from the junkyard $14.00 (for the activator and emitter wheel). Grips cut from PVC pipe. Total: About $44.00

Luke ROTJ v2. Machined from left-over aluminum tubing, some copper pipe and a fender washer from home depot, and a pommel from a broken MR FX saber. Clamp is "borrowed" from one of my graflex sabers, new clamp coming from Roman. So really the only cost was the copper pipe from Home Depot and the clamp - so, about $50.

Hoverboard from foam core, plastic bowls and plates from the dollar store, and leftover styrene from my R2 build. Printed the graphics on my home printer. Cost - about $20.00. A few build pics - http://jedi5150.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=22

I am building a salem 40d mask for airsoft i am using pepakura for the first time. I used resin to harden the card stock. And now paper Masche on the outside i will be laying some fabric on it too to give it a sort of kevlar feel to it (also helps even out the load from being shot with BBs. i will be posting pics later if anyone wants to see it.

I always wanted a Pred Bio, so here is my just over $50 (Foam/Bondo/ABS) Pred Bio.
abs-sludge-20131027_213624.jpg-247065d1382874795

The template come from the costume section where JFcustom has been sharing his unfolds which I printed at work.
The template fit on one sheet of 10mm EVA foam.
Several tubes of superglue (just $0.70 per twin 3mm pack!).
1 1/2 cans of Bondo.
2 bottles of acetone
ABS offcuts from the TK armour to make ABS Sludge.

OK, well I guess this counts. Here's the blaster I just finished (well, i say finished, but I've yet to add the little adjuster on the top of the scope, which appears to have become lost down the back of my workbench - however, you can see it in the first picture).

It's made from a $5 plastic BB gun, some knobs, bottle tops, an old broken torch/flashlight a couple of plastic pipe clips, part of a broom handle (yes, there's an irony there, I'm sure) and the bracket was cut out of an old aluminium project box that was no longer in use.

Great work !!

Where did you buy the BB gun ?

Thanks! I bought it in a shop just round from the corner from my office. I'm currently working in Taipei, Taiwan, so that won't be of much use to you, ha.

Several months ago, Dealextreme sold these pistol for cheap on their site but they are out of stock for a long time. If someone know where I could buy one, I am interested in the information...;)

I ordered one of those metal mausers a while ago to use for something like this, but I found it completely useless. It only actually shot successfully about 1/3rd of the time, and then it was wildly inaccurate. It's also only about 3/4 scale to the real thing, so that ruined my plans to make a DL-44 out of it.

Made this from materials I had on hand, an £8 budget for fixtures and fittings and a need for a helmet rotocaster

I also built a mini dremel bench saw from scrapped heatsinks I got from work as I needed to fabricate the crank shaft for it (no metal cutting blades for my big power tools)

Not bad for one weekends work I'd say :)

Ok, here are my 'budget' builds...done over the course of one month and perhaps a total expenditure of ~maybe~ $300.

The clothes are all thrift store finds, from the jeans ($10), jacket ($15), vest ($10), shirt ($5), shoes ($10) and suspenders ($2), to the red undershirt ($4) and purple underwear ($2). Accessories include: Headphones ($4) tape player ($5), Guitar pin ($3) Art button (free sticker printout and 50c button to stick it on) silver guitar pick ($3) and Aviator-style sunglasses ($2)
I had to hem the jeans, shirt sleeves and color in the 'swoosh' in red marker ($5) (I have since switched to acrylic paint ($2) and will next time be adding a gloss clear coat sealant. ($7) ) I modded the jacket with internal pockets (one to hold the flux and the other to hold the frisbie pie plate.

The Hoverboard is multi-sourced, including:
Thrift store parts:
Skateboard - $4
Pot lids - $1 each
Red brackets - $4 total
Pink fur strap - $3
Purple foam - $2
Turntable - had that so long I have no idea, prolly $1
Foil 2" starred circles - 49c

Dollar store add-ons:
Green container lid
ball bearings
Some of the skinny tapes

From the Hardware drawer:
2 Binding screws to hold the pot lids on
8 small countersink screws for the brackets
2 larger countersink screws for the purple 'battery box'
2 turntable hold-down screws

Wal-Mart:
6 Prism Duct tape sheets
Colored Duct/electrical tape rolls
Vinyl Lettering
Chrome pinstriping tape

The "Mr. Pie-plate Thrower!"
1 Aluminum pie plate and one set of foam stickers from the dollar store
1 can of silver Krylon Short-Cuts spray paint from Walmart.
and two days time (mainly for the paint to dry on the letters)

Mr. Flux is a combo of Lego parts, misc yellow wire, a surplus retail tin (prolly from some sort of gift set), black foamboard, bottle caps, straws and a Christmas light set.

Thank for the opportunity with this thread!
