Solo: A Star Wars Story

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Sorry Wook, I've had you on block, its removed now . Its taken you a while since TFA but you've seemed to have calmed down a bit. Of course since then the Ghostbusters thread has made the comments you made look positively restrained and informed . Apologies.

Perhaps you could PM @DINVADER, who also blocked me over my TFA criticisms, and let him know that I'm not such a bad bloke, after all. lol

The Wook :D

Wait, shameless self-promotion? No Wook that I know of needs those PR shenanigans! I´ll go and report that The Wook´s account must´ve been hacked :p ;)

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Damn, I missed the comments everyone is talking about regarding TFA. Can someone sum it up for me? I hate not knowing. I was around for GB2016 though haha.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

I don't think we need to rehash any of that in public. For all users for whom bygones are now bygones, let's not dredge up past conflicts. For those who haven't let the conflicts go, there's no need to get back into it again.

There speaks the voice of a true moderator. I fear this thread will remain a calm and rational one only UP TO the point the first trailer is released (or the first photograph of the young Han). Then I've got a bad feeling about this.

The first pic will be discouraging because the new guy looks nothing like Harrison. In a still shot alone he is a total fail.

The first footage will probably restore at little of the faith. By all accounts the actor has acting/charisma chops, whether he belongs in this role or not.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Hoping for a buddy movie with Han and Lando now that I know it's Donald Glover. You could put Seth green across form Danny as Lando and I'd be in!

Just like the ghost busters reboot, I'm against the whole idea of this. If anything, a trailer might make me interested.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

I couldn't wait to see TFA. I'm definitely going to see Rogue One. I'll see this when I see it. For me, Star Wars is the Rebels and the Empire. The Jedi and lightsabers. This will be none of that. Even if the trailer looks good, I doubt it'll boost my enthusiasm at all.

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

I'm still hoping for a pirate action thriller, Han and Lando cheating gamblers out of their fortunes, running supplies then "losing" the freight in a secluded treasure room inside the crater of an asteroid.

Then they encounter a badaas who can take them both on after he finds out the pair are swindlers, the villain turns out to be a psycho torturer who does bounties for sport and destroys the prisoner instead of turning them in for the loot. Han and Lando are on their way out of the villain's play place where Han saves a wookiee from being torn apart.

This is where Lando would say "Alright ol buddy, lets make a wager: you save my skin, you keep the Falcon!" But there's at least a dozen close calls where Lando almost buys it throughout the film. Ending with a gruesome death of the pirate villain (new character, no need for #itsallconnected) Lando thanks Han, and tells Chewie to watch out for this guy, he's a real sneaky loser. Lando exists in his own adventure.

Han and Chewie are being chased from the villain's henchmen, Han checks the coordinates, the best way to lose them is through the Kessel Run, "Ready, Chewie? PUNCH IT!" It ends with our POV, the Falcon hits hyperspeed and vanishes into the stars, camera pans down, we see the Slave I coasting and then it hits hyperspeed. Cue the traditional SW ending theme

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Isn't it well known that Lando lost the Falcon to Han in a Sabaac match? Or is that just considered old canon and not valid anymore?

Re: Star Wars Anthology (Young Han Solo)

Do they have to show us the moment Han gets the falcon? Can't they come up with a different story?

Just because they reference sonething doesn't mean that it has to be filmed!

70% of the people walking into the theater will expect most of the famous incidents to be covered. At least 50% will be downright disappointed if the movie doesn't cover most of it.
