Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **TAKING PAYMENTS**

Cool Brian. Is your buddy with the R2 coming? I forgot his name, was it Brian also?

You speak of the one and only Mike Sena.

I'll ask...

Please do, I would love to have him there! That's right it was the 2 Mikes, not the 2 Brians! I am horrible with names.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **TAKING PAYMENTS**

Wow... am I out of the loop. Just catching up on the last umm... 20+ pages and I have to say I am really disappointed to see that interest from the Profiles in History crew was received so negatively. Yes, I understand the concern and worries, but attitude that those guys would not be welcome is NOT the stance we want to take as a site. You may disagree with them on specific issues or you may just not want the exposure, but within reason, we should always welcome other members of the greater prop community with open arms!

Art, for the record, the only folks explicitly using the term "not welcome" were members posting defensive comments in response to those not embracing the idea of PIH attending.

Case in point Tymer stating "after talking to Hollywood Treasure aka PIH and giving them the "bad news" that apparently they aren't welcome at the prop party.".

The concept of "Not welcome" seems to be a joint construct (and misconstrued sentiment) of those on the pro-PIH side of the fence.

I think that upon closer reading, you'll find that those that are not entirely comfortable with PIH attending have stated respectable opinions and reasons (which you graciously conceded) and, by and large, have not stated unequivocally that "PIH is not welcome."

I know I still need to pay but I've been holding back cuz I'm kinda undecided if I am going....After keeping up with the thread it seems like everyone that's going all knows each other and has met before and I'm afraid I will be kind of like an intruder lol.......also everything really seems to be about props and not costumes and well......seeing as I'm a costumer..........I guess I'd feel even more like the elephant in the room so to speak.

Is this something where you want new people attending or someone attending who has nothing to do with props?? If the answer is no that's totally fine, I just want to make sure before I come and everyone is like "Who's this party crasher?" lol!

(also I have read the whole thread where people mention wanting new folks to come etc but as I kept reading and as I saw those that are attending it just seems like a really close knit group)

Eveningarwen,
I think you should come for 3 different reasons:

1) I would LOVE to have more members in costume show up
2) You will be able to meet members and make contacts for people needing costume assistance.
3) We all don't really know each other. There are a few of us that do but we love meeting new people that share the passion for movies in general.

I hope you come.

Speaking from my own experience - the first time I met most of these guys was at last year's prop party and everyone couldn't have been nicer! All the members I met were very friendly, very welcoming and excited to talk about props, costumes, movies or whatever. I even brought a couple of costume pieces I'd worked on.

So please don't feel like it will just be "the cool kids" hanging out together and excluding outsiders. I'd love to see some of your costumes or if you just want to come and meet people, I think that's okay too.

Can't wait to see everyone again this year!

:thumbsup +1.....

Eveningarwen, you should definitely come and you wont feel like the elephant in the room.......every-one is friendly and very open.....i spent most of last year walking around the room talking to different members.....

there are only a few of us that know each other because we met at past get togethers and talk here on the rpf, but we always welcome new people with open arms.........

heck, i was the noobie last year and knew only one person really.....and i didnt feel unwelcome or the elephant in the room....every-one was great

also, i think there will be other costumers there as well....

Lol alrighty! I sent my money so I am in.

Another question though.....this was answered kind of before but I wanted to clarify:

Is there an interest to see costumes? For example should I bring a few mannequins and put a couple of my costumes on them for people to see fabrics and construction etc? (like my Prince Nuada and Nuala and Alice and Hatter?)

Initially some had mentioned that there wasn't an interest really in costumes so not to bother bringing or wearing any and I was just curious if that is still the case. Initially I planned to wear one of my really simple ones and bring my portfolio book but if there is an interest then I'll bring some of my more elaborate costumes.

Re: So Cal Prop Party!! SET FOR MARCH 6th 2011 **TAKING PAYMENTS** #1 Door Prize upda

Well...:love

Actually what I will do is give everyone a raffle ticket at the beginning. At the end I will have someone randomly draw from the tickets. ONLY the people that have confirmed payment will get a ticket. No non-RPF invties will get these tickets.

The way it is shaping up, 1/4 of the RPF'rs will win a prize. These prizes' value, so far exceed anyones admission fee!

I am really waiting to see Bowelrocks glove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:eek:eekhow does one win these so-called door prizes? who do i have to sleep with?
