Hey Everyone,
I'm working on a Shredder helmet at the moment that's about halfway between the movie and cartoon versions. I used foam as a base and then sculpted it out of Soft Chavant NSP, but I can't get the finish quite smooth enough. I'll be making a smooth-on silicone mold off of the clay, so I'd really like to get it as smooth as possible.
I could try brushing in paint thinner or isopropyl, but so far I'm not crazy about the pieces I've tested that on. I was thinking as another option to spray high-build primer (probably Duplicolor) over the clay or a very thin layer of bondo and then sanding it smooth.
Has anyone ever tried primer or bondo over clay? Or am I just asking for a lot of trouble? Any tips would definitely be appreciated.
