Sliders Timer Electronics

Ha seriously Helix? too funny....you know how long I looked for that battery lol NOW HE TELLS ME!! ;) I always thought you had done a good job, well, I kept the pictures this long anyway ;)

Hey thanks Kurt, unfortunatly that Timer is long gone. The flip part broke and I have no idea where the rest is. I still have the battery and I guess it is kinda special, because it is not a rechargable type. Instead it has a door that opens and fits 6 AA batteries. I believe this is the battery used on the show because it doesnt have the recharge port on the back.

I have a question. did the timer always have a 2 digit or 3 digit display on the top under the crystal light emitter? I've seen differences in replicas, and just wondered if it changed during seasons.

I vote for Exoray to do a Run !!!!!

It's been on the bench for years now, I have it entirely bread boarded and prototyped I just can't find the time to do the PC board layout, and fine tune the entire thing... Give me a good solid week of time to focus and I could wrap it up, just can't seem to find that time with the other stuff on the bench... But, that might change shortly, as it's really been on my mind a lot more lately... I have also recently (in the last 6 months or so) secured a few of the real phones so that I can work with Thermal's shell as well as compare and make sure the electronics will fit in the real phone body...

I doubt it will be fruitful but if anyone has a lead on the source of the keypad used on the flip, or any additional reference photos of it beyond screen caps and the few public photos of it that are easily found, I would be most grateful if they shared that info even if its to be kept private and not go beyond me...

The numbers on top or (DAYS) have ALWAYS been 3. Replicas that only have 2,....I assume is because they weren't able to locate LEDS small enough to have 3 without looking stupid. Of course, I question if the show even had them all the time. The space is there for them but sometimes they seem barely visible, of course, they are very faint LEDS to begin with and seem to be flooded out by the emitter sometimes.

I guess the cast was pretty famous for breaking it, dropping it, missing it when thrown, etc etc etc etc etc. Look at this picture here. I mean, WTF happened to the rubber/volume grip!?

AHHHH WHO NEEDS IT!!?? AAAAAAANNNNNND ACTION!

The battery on the show had the recharge port, it's what the rainbow wire from the flip cover fed into.

I remember seeing a remark crop up that it was supposedly from a calculator, but the poster didn't reveal the actual source (frustratingly).

Again the original prop builder (I believe) stated that they where simply a transparency, not functional...

I have seen the same, but no source has been identified... It could be from an extended calculator as been hinted or it could simply be a stock or custom overlay for say a cash register or whatever specialized equipment...

Awesome Kingpin !!

But... Damn....
Sharp, Casio, HP, Texas Instrument ! So much models...

I think it is this kind of model :

Ahhhhhh that makes A LOT of sense! That's why that window is lit, it's not from the emitter, it's the light that lit up the transparency. I'll agree with that a billion percent.

Also, I take back what I said about cutting the swoosh into the black box. The box is also transparent (as previously stated by others) and the swoosh clearly exists under the transparent "black" box. I can admit when I'm an idiot, it's cool :D

Sorry Kingpin what I ment was the 4 connections on the back of the battery. Heres a picture of what I am talking about. The one on the left is the AA Battery Pack, and the one on the right is the standard.

Heres a screen cap from Luck of the Draw, it is clear that these 4 connections are not there. Also a great example of how at least one of the Timers was made thicker.

And like Kingpin said the ribbon cable coming from the flip goes into the port in the back

Of course... for a moment that'd flitted through my mind but foolishly I discounted it. Thanks for the clarification.

If people are really interested and willing to pay the price, contact the folks at LightBenders (lightbenders.info) and if there is enough guaranteed interest they might just do it. No "if this" or "maybe this", you need to be willing to put your money where your mouth is and it might happen. They won't do it unless it's worth their time and effort but given how many people keep harping on about wanting something, they might have the numbers.

OK from what I've heard someone has come up with some money for the development to get the thing done. The thing is it will be made for the real phone rather than the Thermalized Plastics shell kit. I know that the phones are becoming harder to find but it is what the "backer" wants.

He has suggested it might take a small redesign of the board to fit the Thermal kit due to some differences in internal space.

He is also having some issues finding displays that will fit across the width of the phone with space for the colon diodes between.

Hopefully I'll hear when he has something tangible to show. More info when I have it.
