Getting some stuff done on the Konahrik mask today. Pretty much just need to do a final spot check on both the tusks, polish them down, and they're ready to mold. Still lots of work on the mask itself, though.

Finally got all my resin casts pulled. Admittedly, it was only my laziness that kept me from pulling them sooner, but oh well, they're pulled now.
Still tons of scarring and finishing work ahead of me, but it's coming along, so I'll take it. I'm actually thinking about having the ninth mask, The Wooden Mask, milled from real wood. We'll se how that goes though, but that's what I'd like to do.

Nothing new on the Konahrik mask, though. Been too cold for me to work outside. Hopefully I can get to it before too long, I'm eager to get this display together.

Playing around with some casting today. It's snowing pretty hard today, and being stuck in the house got me to pulling some casts today. I had a small batch of semi rigid resin I needed to use up, and my kids have been on my case to make them a couple DP masks. So I decided to use the semi rigid resin I had for one of their masks. While I don't prefer semi rigid on my masks, I'm actually happy with how it came out.

Very nice. I did a pep build using JTM's excellent model a while ago, so it was neat seeing these printed. Plus the design of these items is just so pleasing to the eye. Your master polished up nicely, a lot of printed stuff never gets to that wonderfully smooth stage. Looking forward to seeing those Miraak and Konahrik masks painted and weathered. Looking at that one Konahrik WIP pic, I kind of want to see one painted up sans tusks. Are you going to try replicating the "display stone" from in-game, or go for something a little less lore conducive? Either way, beautiful work!

Hey man, thanks! Your mask looks pretty sharp, too.

I have actually been thinking about the stone busts. Doubt I'd make them out of actual stone, though. But............the idea is very appealing. The only real trouble is it would be very space consuming.

But, never say never.

Progress continues on Konahrik. I think about two weeks max until it'll be ready for casting. The tusks are ready now, I'll probably start casting them this week.

It's looking good! You've got a nice smooth finish on the piece, and those clean angles and curves make it very pleasing to the eye. Are you planning on cutting out the eyes, or keeping them filled for display purposes? Looking ready to serve the dragon masters!

Thanks! I will be trimming them out. Originally, I had planned on not trimming the eyes, and just painting them black. I did this on the first and only fully painted mask, and did not like how it looked. Looks better trimmed up. :thumbsup

Much thanks, I do indeed plan on painting the whole set. Lately I've been testing and playing around with different paints to see what I like. Once I finish up the handful of masks that I'm selling in the junkyard, I'll finally have just mine to work on.

Hey guys, long time no update. Finally carved some time out to trim up my Konahrik mask. Today I laid down the base layer of paint. Will be weathering it up this weekend.
