Silicone won't cure

It's RTV 181 I'm not sure what kind of silicone it is though, it doesn't say.
I've used this brand before and I have never had this problem... I'm using the same clay as dividing wall, same release agent, same gloves, same brushes.
Only difference is probably the ratio I'm using... Or possibly the wooden base I put the model on.. It's masonite, but I did a small test on it prior to molding and the silicone cured, albeigt I did use more catalyst that time...

I'm in a basement in my workshop, and the temperature is normal room temp and the silicone has not been frozen to my knowledge, I just bought it!

I'm going to make a test coating on a small part, with more catlyst tonight and see what happens!

Great news, it's curing! Although slowly! Today the silicone was about 70% cured... I'm thinking it has something to do with room temp, so I'm cranking up the heat tonight and let it sit til tomorrow! Hopefully it will cure! :angel

I find it confusing that you're using "more" or "less" catalyst. Silicone has, in my experience, had a very strict mix ratio. It isn't like some resins where adjusting the "catalyst" will still result in a cured product.

The silicone I'm using says: 2% catalyst will result in 24 hour curing time 3% - 16h, 4% - 8h, and 5% - 3h so that's what I'm going by. Yeah, I haven't touched it with any latex, I promise! :p

Sorry to hear this, to remove the uncured silicone put some catalyst in a spray bottle and cover the uncured material. Wait 24 hours and peel off what you can. This works, I've f$#@ed up plenty to know how to fix my mistakes. It will make you better in the long run! Good luck
