Hello from France dear friends !
I want to make my own 65cm high silicone articulated statues.
I
I prototyped a brass "skeleto-mechanical" hand for the poses (and I will make the whole skeleton) and I am quite satisfied even if there is still a little work to do to place the wrist joint.
A second version will be started with another idea for the "metacarpian thumb" articulation
I would like to find help regarding the coating that will be brushed on the skeleton before putting it in a mold and then pouring the silicone, because I think that without coating, the silicone skin could be pierced by repeated handling . . .
Has anyone already had to do this? Or ideas would be welcome please!
NOTE: I'm back from my "cavetelier" (cellar workshop) and I tested several "rubbery" materials (but not directly on the mechanical hand!!!! Too afraid of damaging it), flexible and semi-liquid/pasty, by making mixtures and seeing if one of them can be flexible and not "break" by bending the "test joint". . .
An acquaintance showed me this test that she had done a while ago and she told me that she had not found a solution and therefore abandoned her project . . .
QUESTION: does anyone accept commissions for silicone moldings and silicone castings? I don't have the time and the skills, even if I learned a lot about silicones by experimenting with a few small things myself. . . But for big serious things, it would be wiser to have these steps done by someone who is talented @^;^@
