Silicone P1 Suit Evolution. Pg41 Hands Video 19/07/13

Im just waiting for the sculpt to dry out some, so i can mould it.

i have actually come to work and forgot to cover it again, so i hope its ok for another 8 hrs.

Well, i cannot mess about with this anymore, i will be off my feet for over a month after Tuesdays op, so i have to mould this nooooooooow.

So people can see how ****** my moulds are , and this being by far the biggest item i have EVER moulded.

heres a pic pre GELCOAT.

I have done 2 layers of gelcoat, but I am waiting to do another gelcoat layer as it is alittle thin in certain places. i have to finish this today front and back, so wish me luck eh :) i could be here till stupid oclock.

Good luck with the moulding, it's looking good so far, I'm only 30 minutes away if you need a hand to turn it over /lift it and I'm off all day today

Dude: that looks massive, Great job on details on that skin, def wanna see this paint it.

Also good luck on tuesday, just remember, chicks dig scars !! lol

Get well soon so we can see this monster with some color.. :)

Chris

Thanks Troggs / Chris.

Luckily this is the most taxing bit, and once i have done the cloth/resin layer done, flipping it will not be a problem, but thankyou VERY much for the offer Troggs. :)

Chris. i have more scars than i care to think about, and thats not true sadly dude o_O

Already had a minor issue when i laid it down, the cardboard box under his neck moved and dug a nice groove across his neck lol, so being as i had taken the stand off, it was a case of holding it up with one hand and resculpt with the other lol.

I will just have to resist the temptation to try cast ad paint this before im fixed o_O im super excited to get working on the paint up now though.

Looks great so far, it's always a fun to see you sculpt. Good luck with the mold and on Tuesday as well.

No problem at all, good luck with it and on Tuesday

If i had known you were available and interested i would have been happy for the help by the way :) especially as you are so close.

theres always the leg skins when i sculpt them if you want o_O

Anyhooooo, picture of the gel coat layer, i have actually also done 2 layers of cloth and resin, currently debating if i should do a 3rd or not. hmmmmm

i will post pics of the fully moulded front before i move onto the back.

After a quick chat with George, i added a 3rd cloth coat, the temp seems to have dropped here alittle so i think i have a hour or 2 before i can flip him over and ( Lee choses words very carefully ) work on the back half of the mould.

Dude, that's the ONLY pic you took of the detail before you started molding it? Are you FREAKIN" KIDDING ME?! You're a damn tease...

Really, though, very nice job. Sculpt looks amazing and glad to see you extended the sleeves down the forearm. Mold looks really clean. Question, though: I thought you only had 24 hours to paint silicone, otherwise the paint wouldn't bond to the silicone. Did I misread something somewhere?

About that yes, i think its BEST to paint inside 48 hrs, but upto a week is ok.

i only need the mould done for now, then i will make sure i have enough paints ready for when i pour the thing in a few months time. :) More headaches and worries then.

Oh, duh. For some reason I thought you were trying to cast this prior to the op. My bad.

I still want to see more pics of all the details, damn it :)

Nothing much changed from the detail shots on the previous page.
time was also against me, and although it grated my nuts SETTLING for it in this state, i had to either scrap it or mould it, as the sculpt would not have survived for another couple of months, and to be honest i need to get my ass moving and get a suit sorted once and for all.

Naaa just my take on the beasty, no ones suit/work is better than anyone else here, we are just all different, which is part of the appeal to so many i guess.

:)

ok ..here are a few concerns about the mold. you decided to clay wall your mold instead of bending metal shims to make your registration keys. Your current wall has long keys sculpted in, but not much space separating each key, and not much room above them. To really get this mold together tight you will want to drill holes and bolt it together. You could band strap it like a stone mold, but im still worried about the seal considering you are using silicone. On that note, are you planning on painting the silicone into the mold? Im not noticing any pour spouts ( if you had a lycra undesuit, you could place it over the core ..the mannequin ..then replace it into the mold) you would drill very small "bleeder" holes through out the mold, with two pour spouts at the high points ( shoulders) ..as you pour the silicone into the spouts, the bleeders will leak silicone, letting you know where the fill is at. As each hole starts to bleed you plug it with klean klay. The silicone will bond to the lycra suit giving you a fabric re-enforcement for the suit as a whole.

Just let me know when you want a hand with the leg skins :)
I don't know if this is a daft question as I've never moulded anything bigger than a bio, will you be doing a support jacket, as I would have thought the fibreglass on something this big would flex a fair bit?
