Silicone P1 Suit Evolution. Pg41 Hands Video 19/07/13

Yeah i used WED on the P1 commision ( which i still have 2 blanks to paint somehow when i decide lol ) i think i struggled alittle with that as i was paranoid and wet it down too much.

actually if i want to start it soon i have no choice really as i have gone off using chavant medium as the bloody stuff is way to hard for uk temps.

although i could sell it on i guess and buy some more soft. hhmmmm.

Cool like the dummy and the maniquin is great also :)
Are going to scuplt the armour as well our just the skin?
Is this to be a two piece skin or a one piece, i know the one piece is a pain, but you do have skills
Will the arms be between the wrist and elbow or to the wrist, same with the legs, between knee and ankle or to the ankle??

lol smart ass !

No the skin will have NO armour on it, i am still hoping one day to complete the armour setup with carls backpack. and i am happy with the rest of his stuff and Mannowars shins. PLUS if i make it sort of generic, i can use it at a later date for maybe a P2 suit also

Top and bottom will be seperate sculpts. the suit will be silicone like the mask also

The arms will come just below mid way point between the elbow and wrist. and the legs wll come about half way down the calf, i can always trim the skin shorter when it i done, but i cannot make it longer if it is too short, so i have to go slightly longer than i require.

and PREDWOLF yeah im backon the sculpting train due to seeing others working :)

Here's the thing: let's say you get a burr in your ass to create some really cool gaunts or graves down the line that have openings in them that SHOULD show the skin (See Munson's Skull Gaunt as an example) would you sculpt the remaining arm or calf into the new gaunt/grave (May actually be the better option), or would it be best to just complete the arms and calves now? Just thinking about future worse case scenarios...

in theory yes, but i only really intend to make a P1 suit now and a P2 at a later date.

dammit it is a good idea though grrrrr, your making me second guess myself again now, thanks .....Brad

HA! I was just telling Gene about my HORRIBLE habit of constantly worrying about "worst-case scenarios". At my current rate, my first hand won't be finished until 2021 and by the time the second one is finished the first mold will have broken down,

Seriously, at that point, what's a few more inches (Again, at my rate, another six months, HA!)? You can always trim it...

well, yesterday aftenoon i decided to start the torso sculpt, i am still not a fan of wed clay, but the speed for blocking is surpreme, now if i can get to grips with the worry of it drying out ill be golden.

1st i covered the whole mannequin in clay then blocked it out where it needed it, to get as close to my body shape and size as possible. once i had that i went over the whole sculpt with my rake smoothing it down and slightly shrinking the sculpt from my own size, then i started to roughly block out the shapes and forms, which is where i am now.

chest is 46, mine is 44 ( saves me Hitting the gym :) )

i then took measurement of width of back, every 3 inches and circumference. And i kept working so the sculpt is the same as me, down to the waist which is 35. The only thing i am alittle concerned with is the forearms, for a mannequin he has pretty beafy forearms, and mine are only 1 inch bigger, Which leaves only a very thin layer of clay on the forearms ,My guess is i will have to keep watering it to make Sure.

not Very far off it being roughed out now, i can then start to tighten up shapes and onto the detailing, i am Tempted to give it my own twist somehow, but we will see if i go through with that or not Pfft

Great start Lee. Between you, Cory, and Gene....a wealth of info about sculpting a torso! Keep up the great work!

not sure about it being informative, but ya never know, i am actually making it up as i go.

also remember the skin suit will be SILICONE, so i do not need to take shrinkage into account :)

X_x

The rate and consistancy of your work is just mind blowing Lee... I can't believe how quickly you've tHrown that torso together... even though there Aren't any fine details yet, I can already tell it's going to look absolutely Wonderful! well done Man!!

Lee that looks superb, man! Just curious, I know Silicone is a bit (apparently alot) more expensive than Latex, how much longer will your suit last because of it being Silicone? Also, how much room do you have for errors-within-margin?

Well, i am NOOOOOOOOO expert on silicone ( not even on latex ) But silicone will last ALOT longer than latex, and obviously more flexible and life like, which are all qualities i would like in my suit.

As for error i assume you meansize wise, well in theory, i say again theory, the basic shape should fit me very close, all i need to do is slightly pad out the pecs and abs ( maybe a couple of other places )

IF it happens to be too big i can cut a section out of the back when i install the zip, but im thinking positive , so it will fit well :)
