Sideshow Hellboy Samaritan - Take 2 (merged)

Re: Hellboy Samaritan delivery?

there was a note on the sideshow freaks board a while back that the prototype tracer bullets were stolen at comicon (?)... that might be the reason for the delay...

I really don´t get certain people´s attitude regarding stuff that is on display at shows or conventions :rolleyes

I mean, especially something like "tracer bullets". As if a sale of those will go unnoticed. It´s not like it could´nt get traced back to the original seller (pun intended)

Re: Hellboy Samaritan delivery?

Actually, depending on where the plant is...

There could have been a huge production delay due to the Olympics with many factories being shut down for a few weeks. The anti-pollution issue and the need for volunteers to be drafted had quite an effect in China.

One thing for certain, I would rather have the delay than get a defective replica. Good for them to take the time to do it right rather than knowingly send out a bad replica.

I have fund some thing funny in the description of the Samaritan in sideshow website and the firth post of Prop Collector date (02-20-2008). Read the part of the "GRIP" of the gun. And go to the sidesshow descrition of the Samaritan. :confused :confused :confused

they dont describe the grip as being real wood. I honed sideshow and asked and they told me it would not be real wood.

I noticed that too.
I was sure that on the behind the scenes video they posted, it was stated as to have a real wood grip. I thought maybe I was mistaken but if others have noticed then maybe not.

I realise that prototypes are subject to change but I think that a change like that should have been announced to the people that were buying.

This is the first thing I have ever bought direct from Sideshow. Well, to be fair it is a present for my Birthday which was in May (thought I would only have to wait a while for it) and to be honest, I doubt I will ever buy anything from them again.

I unfortunately read the cancellation e-mail 24hrs AFTER it was sent so I wouldn't get all my money back. And with the increase in the dollar's value since my first Flexpay payment, I would be losing money anyway.

$10 discount. Whoopee.(n)thumbsdown

Aw c´mon, that´s easily replaced if wanted, we can be glad that at this price point we get an all-metal gun ;)

I mean I am not happy that it´s pushed back either.

Has an already sold-out product been cancelled ever before in the history of Sideshow ? So it will come, but noone knows when ;)

Michael

yeah, the no wood grip thing was a huge deal in the sideshow freaks forum... The grips were originally said to be wood, but then they changed the description on the website. sideshow actually did post a note in one of their newsletters maybe 2 months back regarding the change, but it was really small and all the way at the end of the newsletter.

I really wanted the wood grips, but the change isn't enough for me to cancel it... I bet they're making this change not because the grips would be too difficult to manufacture (as they claimed), but so they can so a HBIII version of the Samaritan when the time comes with a metal body and wood grips.

That's pretty lame them changing it like that. Kinda like the lame-a## Kane figure they just came out with.

high-grade polyurethane. LOL! That's MUCH better than wood!

I more and more get the feeling that someone miscalculated the price point of the Samaritan.

Wood grips, all metal body, display base, glowing bullets, and that at almost the same cost as the first edition ? As usual, it seems like if it sounds too good to be true...

Michael

In the description of the Samaritan in sideshow website the video it said that the grip is made of wood...:wacko

Yes, as it was indeed original planned to include a wooden grip.
Sideshow have since amended this by stating in the product description it'll have a polyurethane grip. Though no official announcement was made.
