Well, I have finally got my Mal pistol finished and thought I would post some pics (albeit with the camera from hell) to see what you all think. :thumbsup
The main body is brass plated and chemically aged. The frame nickel plated and lacquered to take some of the shine off and to dull it down some.
The accurate Thumbscrews are from Robstyle (many thanks) and I think are superb.
The grips are Walnut and hand shaped by me. They are not an easy shape to cut and believe me I almost gave up after sitting on my doorstep for four days in the freezing cold with a dremel and dark brown dewdrops hanging from my nose where I inhaled so much wood dust LOL.
For the stand I borrowed the idea from my Coyle Bladerunner Blaster stand. I made it out of solid Oak with a red velvet cushion because when I thought about the Pistol and it being based on American civil war era handguns it reminded me of treasure chests for some reason. From the idea of a treasure chest, I visualised brass nails or rivets and in my local hardware store found antique brass upholstery pins and used a little sandpaper to weather them.
Comments, criticism (constructive please) and questions are most welcome.
Many thanks to wackychimp for hosting.
