Back in 2005, I bought a 23rd century pistol kit and I was very happy with it until the day I decided to check how far it is from the original props.
The handle is way too thin and the P2 looks fat and straight but also smaller that it should. I decided to completely rescuplt the P2.
I now think it was a bit stupid to do so but I did and it took me years to obtain something decent to my eyes, Thanks to the user Robn1 who posted a really good blueprint on the RPF.
Here it is in its unfinished current state
Styrene is a wonderful material and can be reshape easily with scrap plastic, cyano and acetone.
The whole P2 is completely resculpted. The sides have been curved, the rear extended and everything completely reshape to match the coca bottle shape of the main body. I've bought metal parts on ebay, printed a new handle to modify it by hand to keep the handmade look of the originals, cut the rear fins out of aluminium sheet.
I kept to original P1 but modified it to insert scratch made aluminium side rails
I still have much to do on it but posting a thread could be a great way to keep motivation to finish that project
