Sculpt the temple of doom monkey

I figured I would offer the chocolate version, since others are doing a great job of sculpting a resin or soft rubber one. But if there is enough cries for it, yes, I still have the silicones, I could try making rubber ones, but I'm not sure how to make them hollow and still retain the shape. Maybe a vacuform cup inside for the brains? Man I have too many other projects for this...:rolleyes
 
I recently was in Orlando and they had an original on display at Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney. Pretty ugly thing to have displayed in your home, but hey - it's from Indiana Jones so it's alright!
 
WHHHHATTT???? I ate there too one of the nights and saw no Indy props other than a small TOD sword or something like that. Man, I would have loved to see that. Do you remember where it was?
 
Well i never realised how basic it was, it looks a lot better on screen, those who have sculpted there own versions, they allready look a lot better than the originals did.

Near the bar, if I recall correctly. I think it was on one of the pillars separating the bar area from the main area, facing into the main restaurant.

Just wondering as I'm finishing the severed top of the skull. Should I attempt correcting what I'm displeased about the sculpt I've done and try to get it right, risking damaging the whole thing or should I just call it good enough and then chalk it up to a lesson learned on how not to do things in the future?

I'm seeing some worthy examples here in the thread, all further along than mine, but being a perfectionist it is irking and urging me to attempt getting it right.

Hmm... guess I'm not completely finished yet. May take a picture of current progress, before cutting into this piece to get the cheeks and mouth more right. No point in waiting for me if you want a monkey head now.

Another option is to mold it and then make the corrections on a cast... but then again... it would seem to be a waste of molding and casting material, imo.

Tough decisions.
 
I was at an convention here in sweden a couple of weeks ago and his guy was showing of his collection of real props... Cell Pictures suck....
 
Yeah, they kinda suck, but you can see pretty well. Heck, looking at that monkey head, mine doesn't look that bad, if only I could lower the cheeks and mouth just a tad. Sadly, with eye surgery, I can't go out and cut that part out, so have to wait about a month before I can do that modification. I'll use that to perfect the neck and detailing on other parts of the head.

Any word on the Darth Cross molding? Would love to see how the casts turn out.
 
It's in rubber right now. Made a mistake in the mix ratio on one pour, so it's setting up really slow. But I should have the molds completed and be able to demold it this weekend.
 
OK guys, here's an update on my version. I'm not the best painter in the world, and I'm not finished glueing on the hair. But here's a couple of pics of one of the first pulls from the molds.
