Sculpt the temple of doom monkey

Looks good TMG. :thumbsup

I'm definately going to have to hit you up for a copy when you're done. Hey, maybe we could do a swap. ;)

I think you're right about the cheeks, they are a bit too pronounced. So I built up the upper lip some to make it a bit more simian and smoothed out the transition between the two. I think it does help the looks. Thanks

I just wish the pics would do it justice, I'm not a very good photographer. :unsure

Man, sorry for the lack of updates. Have been ill and haven't been able to concentrate on sculpting. Did more rudimentary work, such as sanding, as it didn't require much attention or thought. Been working on the *lid* for this thing, wondering whether I should do it as a one-piece for stability and strength whether I should do it as a two-piece. One thing I'm worried about is the ears - there's very little holding them on to the sculpt and I would hate to see this fall apart during shipping to the moldmaker.

Anyways... here's my ugly monkey.

Boy, if this ever turns into a run, I'd love one! PLEASE....:angel

I've got one that a friend gave me and it just dosen't quite fit into the quality range of my other props. LOL

Oh yea.... I'm sure you've noticed that he is rolling his eyes. That's because he lives in a closet! Being taken out for a few minutes only for that picture. LOL

Mike

I can't believe how weird this all is!:confused
I have a sculpt of this monkey head I made for a chocolate company!:lol
I need to find the pics, but it was hallow and had a removable head so the chef could fill it with flavored mousse.
Dammit, do I even have any photos?:cry it would suck if I never got a pic. That is so strange...I was thinking about this the other day. At any rate, mine I had to sculpt the hair into it, so if you guys wanted copies, I would have to take the hair off and make a mold from there. Maybe I could sell the chocolate ones instead.:lol

that's brilliant! Would love to see pics.

Yeah, I've not been able to do much progress as I had to undergo surgery this Friday. Still recovering, but will hopefully get the top and bottom finished sometime next week and shipped off to marsattack for molding.

Hey Tom, per your request I had my friend at the company make one again and take pics for you all to see.
If anyone is interested the chocolates can be purchased @ $7.00 apiece. I can take orders and have my friend at the company ship to anywhere. And yes It will get there next day without melting.:cool

Hey wondersquid, I believe I heard that FROZEN, and I mean FROZEN chocolate could withstand a mold, but I have certainly never tried. You would prob be a little soft on the details.

Its def. been fun following this thread.

I hope you recover swiftly TMG, good luck tommorow!

Thanks for the greeting... just reread my post and I may have been a little vague. It happened last Friday... just recovering now. Formed the first part of the scalp last night and baked the whole head for more than an hour. Will hopefully get it finished soon... just a bit tough, when being so sleepy all the time.

Hey greatgalling - It's the other way around, you pour hot chocolate into a mold and then either refrigerate or let it cool slowly. The piece is then chilled a little more for shipping.

Ah, I see TMG, glad you are doing ok though. I must have just read it wrong.

Hey wondersquid, for some reason, I thought you lost the mold. I was saying I have heard that some people may have been successful in making a mold FROM frozen chocolate, and then with the molds they then used it to create resin casts. I dunno if that is actually possible, but it came up with regard to the Indy Jones Forbidden Eye that has been seen around. Some say they were actually promotional chocolates that someone froze and cast. I was thinking out loud about you trying with your monkey head. After reading your post, it looks like you still have an original, not in chocolate, and could make a mold from that.

What was wrong with me? I need to start reading carefully.
