Scroggins 2017 HIC Han in Carbonite Build Thread

@Scroggins not sure if you got to the volvo panels yet, but I've been wondering how everyone is mounting the metal drawer handles. Just drilling a hole through the panel and screwing them in?

Check the build threads dminor .. I know there's a lot .. and we tend to forget what was in it. But every few weeks, I would go back and reread them .. all the info has been covered through all of them .. but since sharing is caring ...

First, remove the head of 2 long and 2 small screws that came with the handles.
Squeeze the screw in your drill, and turn it over a big file to remove the threading and thin it down.
Take your panel, use the whole already there, and enlarge until you reach the screw thinned size. Be very careful.
Inside the panel, you'll need to thin the wall with a dremel as the holes align in the wall.
Glue from the inside with hot glue, or epoxy or JB weld.

you basically use the screws that came with them, top the head off, then screw in the handle. Now, take that screw, remove the threading .. to make it thinner .. I did that by s

Thanks Bigturc! You'll have to forgive my laziness.

I need to get back and update the thread with my progress and pictures (I'm nearly complete)...but in answer to your question I ended up not using those handles we bought. Mine were ultimately slightly larger than how the holes lined up on the panel. I went through the process Bigturc mentioned...although I didn't think of using the drill to help accelerate filing the screw down and did it by hand :( After I got the holes through the front of the panel and was trying to thin out some of the inside I felt I was starting to get "thin" in a few places and still needed room to get my grid screen secured. I ended up using the handles I got as part of the Zenix greeblies set. I painted them and while not as nice as the metal ones, they slid right in with a little glue and I didn't have to worry about starting over on my hero panel!!
