Scales for weighing out silicon?

I have some silicon on the way and will be needing a scale for measuring it out (2 part 1-10)
Looking for suggestions an a good "gram" scale.
Something with a large enough top and preferably not expensive.

What is everyone else using?

There is a Harbor Freight near work.
Guess I could take a look tomorrow to see if they have any in stock.

Thanks.:thumbsup

Do the instructions say to use weight to measure out quantities? I thought they were measured out by volume.

Could be volume.
It's been ages since I molded anything and it was done at a friends house where he had all the supplies.
I know there is video on the site on measuring it out.
It says you need a scale that measures grams.
It's Smooth-On Mold Max.

Ive used expensive scientific scales in the past but for the past ten years a cheap Escali brand scale has done me no wrong. The issue I have with higher dollar scales is they tend to lag on counting where the Escali is instantaneous. Ive picked a few up at thrift shops for under $5 brand new in the box. They make various kinds but just search "15lb Escali Digital Scale". The exact same scale is re branded under other names.

Mine are small at a limit of 500g, but they measure in 1/10th of a gram. They cost $20 from the supplier of the molding and casting materials I use.

And a random note. If you are making a block style mold you might be surprised just how much and how heavy the silicone will be even for something 'as small as a lightsaber' :) Good luck and have fun!

Tell me about it. 5KG of silicone right here.

These molds are single parts (open back) and are only 3/4" or 20mm at their thickest and were 2 x 1.5KG and 2KG for the biggest one. I saved silcone by not making 'square' mold boxes.
