Re: S&W M76 Machine Gun - scratchbuild

Finally made a good bit of progress. After tweaking the panels several times, I got the side receiver panels plotted. (Unfortunately the only parts of this build that I can computer cut!) Here are the panels attached and grips clamped while contact cement sets.

Nearly done! A trip to the hardware store for a few pieces of aluminum strips and springs for the collapsible stocks. The stock on mine was OK in the folded position but a little shaky when extended. I think I know the problem and should be an easy fix. I hope to ID a few of the 'detail' bits that I left off my gun (trigger pin, various pins on receiver and add those for better accuracy). Then final sanding, priming and painting!

Wow, these have come together pretty quick. I can't wait to see the finished product, Spencer. Fantastic work!!! :cool

Re-routed the stock attachment with thinner groove to help stabilize stock.

Its hard to tell from the small pics, but is that the real deal? If not, its a pretty damn good replica.

Re: S&W M76 Machine Gun Scratchbuild - Beginning Painting on Joker Versions

Got the final sanding (pre primer) finished last night. Here are both guns assembled for a final test fit before priming.

Stocks with first coat of primer.

Should get first primer coat on gun bodies tonight and can then check for rough spots that need additional sanding/puttying. If everything looks OK, then I'll apply second primer coat to dry overnight.
