I finally received this ALBA record player from the UK, but unfortunately these slider knobs are too small.
The Ferguson record player DOES have the correct knobs:

I have a question - in what use would the steering column collar be long? I see a lot of them that are only a few inches tall and figure this must be a practical thing but I'm not well read on car parts :D

i would say that the longer ones used less parts to make up the covering of the column. There may be a lot of reasons these days why it is better to have separate parts like being able to use various parts in other models or that the advancements in tech require more intricate design and breakdown of parts and what is more cost effective.

If your still looking at car parts, I.e steering column, what about 1970s Fords?

The Ford factory was in Dagenham which is London also ..

Capris, Escorts, Cortina etc ..

yes, that is why I posted this on Sept 19:
The post made yesterday by Parts of Star Wars fb page in regards to the Hoth Backpack talked about a parts from Ford vehicles made for european counties.

if you go to the Facebook link, you will see the various models.

I wonder if maybe the one used for the detonator was longer because it came from a box truck, bus, or 18 wheeler, instead of a car.

I keep looking at the housing and, to me, it looks like a housing used for an electric motor. It also looks like it is pretty substantial, and somewhat compact. If the orange color is because it is a resin casting of a mold taken from a metal piece; and we are talking automotive parts... what about the housing for a starter motor?

It also looks something like the housing for a larger router/smaller drillpress motor. The center would locate and seat the bearing holding the shaft, the elongated ports allow for cooling, and a couple of other similarities.

However, I have not seen any other Star Wars prop that used orange resin. I don't know why they would make an exception for this part.

... even though the orange resin was never before seen in SW props.

What do people think about the orange colour of the urethane stunt Fett helmets made for ROTJ? You can see where the paint has scraped off on the left ear and the front mandible on this one pictured in the SW Costumes book (there are also some scrapes visible on the other ROTJ stunt also shown in the book) revealing what looks to be basically the same coloured material as the bunker charge body, at least to my eye. Could this be a hint that the bunker charge bodies were indeed cast pieces produced by the ROTJ production?

Though an original plastic motor housing could have been used, if the original housing was metal, it would also weigh a lot more, and relying on sticky tape to hold it up on a ceiling.... may have called for making a casting out of something lighter. Unless the original was already plastic.

I was looking at automotive starter motors, and they no longer fit the bill. They get really wet, and only run for seconds. Two reasons not to have venting and ports built in to them. Routers however....?
