Hello everyone.
I am aware this forum-thread has been quiet for the last years and I'm not sure if this thread is still expected to be expanded further upon. However, since I am working on a "high quality" Rorschach costume I figured it couldn´t hurt to give this thread an update. In case it might spark interest in old fans and budding Rorschach builders. I have been wanting to make a good Rorschach costume since I was 16 years old but had to put the ambition on pause because I had neiher the budget or the necessary skill to build it at that age, the last years my situtation has radically improved.
I started working on my Rorschach costume (in a serious manner) september 2023, when I first began acquiring materials for the costume.
Since then I have aquired all the garments, accessories and items which are shown on the photos in my post. Most of the garments and props are custom jobs and not readily available. I knew there was a market for Rorschach props but most products are quite expensive and the production is mostly located outside EU, making them inherently more expensive because of customs fees. I wanted to work with a more modest budget, therefore I made a lot of things myself, which also makes my costume more unique.
Now I am finished with everything except for the final lining on my trench coat and the variety of Rorschach masks I plan to make (upwards of 20 different masks).
My Rorschach costume is entirely based on Rorschachs appearance in the Watchmen movie (2009) with the ambition to make it as screen accurate as possible. For reference pictures, I have mostly looked at shots from the film, behind the scenes footage and photo shoots of the screen used costume.
It is worth mentioning that I have known about this forum thread for years and have read it with great interest, but I couldn´t (still cannot) seem to open and view most of the pictures here, therefore it was quite limited in utility. I have chosen to work on my Rorschach costume mostly independently, Now when things are nearing completion I figured I might share my accomplishments for the same reason I mentioned in my top paragraph. It would also be awesome to receive viewpoint and feedback from the experienced Rorschach costume makers who all built this thread. That would make me most thankful : )
I have over 1000 pictures of reference photos, production, progress and documentation for my Rorschach costume. Ask me anything you want to know about my Rorschach costume project, e.g. how I built it, where I found the materials etc. I'd be happy to answer.
PS.
When finished, I plan to apply my Rorschach costume to Nordic Legions so it hopefully become a part of Nordic Reel Icon, making my costume more or less official.
