Re: Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One
I'd disagree on the undersuit and armor. One thing I really wish George had preserved was no one (except Obi-Wan) knowing Vader was really Anakin. Vader showing up wearing the same clothes, with only the addition of new life-support gear, as Anakin had just been wearing would blow that out of the water. There's also the argument from elsewhere on here as to what connotes the "Jedi uniform", which the Prequels also messed up. If we are to give any credence to George's comments to Mark Hamill during costume fitting sessions in 1982, Luke's ROTJ outfit was "more Jedi-like" -- being black tunic and trousers and dark gray stole, with a brown cloak. If all the Jedi fighting in the Clone Wars were wearing black outfits augmented with black Vader-style chest and shoulder armor, we'd have some terrific continuity with ANH and "you're the last of their religion" and Vader as a "fallen Jedi Knight", and nothing that would have specifically identified him as Anakin.
I have a similar problem with how the uniforms went from blue versions of the OT uniform jackets (minus chest pockets), to something utterly different in ROTS, then back to the same cut as earlier for ANH. Up until ROTS came out, I was fan-squeeing over how the pilots of the Radiant VII were wearing the same color uniform (more or less) as Han (a former Imperial pilot). If his blue pants and blue jacket were his old "class B" uniform (we see other straight-legged, single-breasted olive uniforms on the Death Star, so there's precedent), that would imply the blue uniforms for the Republic Navy changing more recently to the steingrau of the Imperial Starfleet as part of the increasing "imperialization" of the galaxy at the time of ANH. Alas.
Basically, my biggest issue with the Prequels is the marry hob they wreaked on continuity to the OT.
