Rocketeer helm in steel

I can't take any credit for this except for doling out $$ for it. I have just about every Rocketeer comic there is (except for the Pulp Friction series) and a small wall section of posters. This is a helm I've been wanting in metal for awhile and I asked a fantastic armorer who does really spectacular medieval helms to make. He agreed to take on the commission(which he probably has regretted more than once) and this is the most recent of updates which I'm really excited to share with my fellow fin-heads!

At one time, I owned about 17 medieval replica helmets, and I've since trimmed the collection down to 8 or 9 (I think...I haven't counted in a while) of my favorites. And I have a resin Rocketeer helm made by Ozymandius that I love, but I really have lusted for one in metal.

The plan is to eventually have this one plated in brass. But I'm liking the polished steel so much that I'm sort of keen on keeping it this way.

Made entirely from sheet steel, the channels are actually raised. The scoops are welded on accessories, and the fin, due to weight considerations, the armorer made hollow.

It still needs eye holes and mouth slots cut and lenses added. (I could use some suggestions on how to make the lenses. I don't want to steal the ones from my Resin cast).
Anyhow, here it is in progress and I'll be sure to post a couple more photos when complete.

This is incredible! I hope you post more pictures. You should really be proud of it!

looks very impressive, how much is it costing if you don't mind me asking? or could you pm me the price if necessary? Interested in getting one made too

A suggestion for the lenses, see any other guys that make the resin helmets will sell you a set. Obviously have the lens on hand before making the holes. Or take an impression of the inside area to make a pattern for lenses.

Update!
I got the helmet in the mail yesterday.
I worked on the acrylic lenses today. I took the advice of a board member who gave me a link to an acrylic company and bought some 4x4" sample squares then heated them in the oven (350 deg. for 15-20 mins). The helmet on the right is an Ozymandius rocketeer (2) model, which I still haven't painted. (My painting skills are extremely poor).

My bathroom scale isn't the most accurate thing but, it seems to weigh in the 6 lb. range. I'm going to break out the sewing machine and work on a liner for it. I've made a few linen liners for my medieval helms, so this should be similar. I have to decide if I'm going to attach the chin strap to the liner or the helm. Due to the weight, a strap on the liner may be problematic, especially with the counterweight of the foil/dorsal fin.
