GL 2814 great pics of your suit, thanks for showing how you are attaching your armor so far!!! Please keep posting pics of your attachment point work it gives us all great direction on how to proceed, great inspiration!! Thanks a lot. And I hope others decide to show there work as well, I love getting new ideas.

Anyone have good suggestions for where to get the snap together buckles like seen aobve? I figured bookbags or toher carry on bags but if I spent $20 on a bookbag to get 2 clips I am pretty sure my wife would kill me. So any suggestions on where to get them and how much they cost?

hey guys. im new to this site. i have be going through alot of pros and cons of this suit. with building it anyways. and i have to say this thread has made up my mind. and i look forward to building it. thank you guys for all the hard work you have put into this for the community

i have a question for anyone who can help ive scaned this thread for scaling advice and i never really saw anything pertaining to the chest and back, im woundering, the chest is obviously smaller the back what would i scale the back to have it match the front. what is the difference in measurment between the two?

Don't ever change the scale of the back and the front.. they are designed to be scaled the same.. so everything lines up.. include the pieces that connect on your sides.. aka under the armpit region.

okay thank you, i will have to scale up though. im 6'6, but if i scale by a certain amount i just change the back by the same amount correct?

I'm currently pepping-out Robo's files and I have a couple of questions:

1) OK, I'm pepping the feet right now. You don't actually WEAR / WALK-AROUND IN this foot / shoe once it's glassed, do you? How on earth do you handle this with regards to shoes?

(Last year, I did War Machine using pep files and what I did was cut away the bottom of each pepped-shoe. Then, running out of time, I glassed them, rondo-d them, and then drilled two holes through the front and two holes through the back. I also drilled two holes through the front and back of each shoe in a pair of old sneakers. I tied the rondoed pieces to the shoes with old shoe laces. Then painted everything. The odd result was that, since there was a front-piece and a back-piece to each foot-covering, the front piece would "flap up" (the lace loosened / stretched over time) and then "slap down" again. I'd like to avoid that effect this year. <grin>)

2) How do you guys handle the issue where you adjust a scale, pep it out, and then find that your body's proportions are fine for "one direction" of the pep, yet for the other direction, your body is much bigger? Do you re-pep the whole thing? Cut and paste a few thin cardstock strips in there? I mean, I'm sorry, but I could lose 50 pounds and never have Robert Downey Jr's shoulders or hips. <grin!>

I hate having to totally repep stuff. What a huge time-waster. <sigh>

Thanks!

I find it depends on your proportions, if your the same height as the original then adding in shims is the way forward (I have to shim out the chest/back/abs for my build) but if your shorter and wider than the original model your in for one hell of a time tweaking the suit that it might not be worth the work in the end.

sorry for the double post but here is what i got done last night. it should be finished tonight and then i'll scale the back and re map the peices (i hate being so tall!)

looks like a perfect fit so far

I'm assuming that, in order to make the Iron Man gloves from this pep, most of you have used some sort of adhesive to glue the individual finger pieces over a pre-existing, "real life" glove, right?

If so, what sort of adhesive did you use ?

If not, what was your alternative method of assembling / attaching these pieces ?

Thanks!

I personally would recommend pop rivets, but i think superglue, hot glue, to name a few, should work. careful if your going to go with superglue - it goes through cloth easily, and can/will break down in extreme temps.

although either of those might be a bit over kill as you can easily fix in some wire (or fishing line) and attach that way, then just slide the "glove" over what your wearing under it

just a little update. got the chest done and the back is at about 50%
let me know what you guys think. i might do the abs in foam. never messed with foam before so i'll have to do some studying.

For some reason the file from the OP does not show up in my pepakura designer program. Is it because the file type is a "rar" and not "pdo" ? I am new to this so please bare with me and I appreciate any help someone can give me.

yes , pepakura designer can't open rar files, but inside the rar should be a pdo file.

*.rar files just one form of compressed data files like *.zip files. Use the program 'Winrar' (free) to open and extract the *.rar file then open the folder you extracted to and you will see all the different *.pdo files that were in that compressed *.rar file
