OK It's official I have absolutely no clue how to paint my creation to look like the prop.HHHEEeeeeeeellllpppp......

It DOES have that "spankin' NEW" look to it!
Read up a little on 'dry brushing' and "weathering" thruout the RPF, or Google. Slap a little brown/black paint in a cup, water it down real thin until it's just a light soup, and start playing and spreading it around with a brush. It'll creep into the corners and along the "greeblies", then just wipe off the rest.

Just let it dry good and long. Find a matte clear to seal it.
I'm still learning as I go, that's why I suggest reading a few threads on weathering first.
Jeff

I will take your advice and do some reading. thank you very much Interceptor6.Jeff

Making a white gun look dirty is proving quite difficult for me.
Looking good Sean! Your Mom didn't let you play in the dirt much, did she?
A little at a time, just keep adding layers until you're happy with it.
Heck, mine's still blue and green!:confused

Thanks man.yours is coming along quite well.I wish I hadn't put paint on mine till the end.but I have no patience at all and I want to see what something is going to look like before it's done.
Hey Jeff have you done any casting of stuff?

I have the same problem. It's "killing" me not to paint this thing! :cry
No casting experience yet, though it's on the list. I've got so many hobbies it's rediculous, and I "ain't getting any younger!".
How did you make the top part / sight? on the blaster?

I made it bye gluing tong suppressors together until I got the different thicknesses and other small strips i found in hobby lobby perfect size.and the round part on the side is just a small button with a little piece of a dowel cut of and drilled in the center..

That's great! :cool
I've been trying to keep it all plastic, but wood and I have a much better relationship!!
Are you going to try to cast one?

I seriously want to cast one.but to do that I would have to ether cut this one apart or build another one.and learn how to cast.the best thing I think to use to make a mold is online and cost more than I would like to spend.and the plastic.all I can find in town is eight ounce bottles.I wish there were a decent hobby store in town.:cry

the latest. not much. Stenciled the letters and numbers on.need to scratch up the CP a bit.and maybe dirty it up some more.not happy with the paint job.wanted to duplicate it exactly.but as me and paint are mortal enemy's.I wasn't able to do that....

Hey Sean,

The scope thingy on the top is kind of gunmetal grey on the original prop. The original is, as you know, pretty havily weathered.

On mine I used a couple of Tamiya's weathering sets which include grease, soot and rust effects, along with dry-bry brushing acrylic flat black where heavier washes show up (around the barrels, grips, over the lettering, etc)

hi, does anyone know where i can buy a ready made gun? is anyone aware of any user selling them? i already have a project on the go so i was wondering if there is a quick sale instead of a make to be done. chris.
