Rick Grimes screen accurate costume

Do you happen to know how I can get them to look screen accurate with the grayish color?
I assume you're refering to the Main show season 1-9 jeans, Levi's 514 model 217? If so, they're usually very dark but will lighten up with time. Most of them are already faded a lot since they're 13 years old at least by now. If you have a pair that is still pretty dark, you can lighten them up with some bleach when washing them. Be carefull to not overdo it though.

Any specific brand of bleach or does it not matter

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to make my pants have the weathered look Rick has in the main show like how glue has holes in the front and the edges of the pockets are a little ripped?

Hey do you know what the exact product code is for the 514s worn from seasons 1-9? Thanks

Hi all, I just joined RPG for this great thread, after years being a big fan of Rick Grimes gear!

On the subject of jeans, I have a different take, I think. I tried the 514s and found they didn't quite sit right over western boots (including a pair of Justin boots, generally considered those worn by Rick). I find the 514s, being a straight cut, tend to sit high on the boot ankle, rather than hanging down around the ankle, as is the case in most images of Rick. My solution to this was to try 517s instead. These are officially a bootcut style but they're only slightly wider in the lower leg than 514s. However, this slight difference is enough that the jeans hang correctly over boots - where the rear of the jeans sit just on top of the boot heel (not a few inches higher as with 514s). Levi's do the 517s in a black which is already slightly faded too - so this also helps replicate the look.

Just my experience but if anyone else finds the 514s sitting too high (almost hugging the boot ankle) and/or finds them too dark, I'd recommend giving the 517s a look (product code 005170244)...

Did you try the modern version of the 514 or the Screen Accurate 514-217 slim straight model that was being sold 14 years ago? New ones don't fit like the old ones at all. I think the fit dramatically changed after 2013. The modern 514's are just straight fit.

Good point. I tried modern 514s (514-1036). They are too straight a fit, yes. That said, old bootcut Levi's used to be noticeably 'flared' but these have been straightened in the modern cut. For those that can't get hold of the original 514s, I still think modern 517s are a close match and worth a look.
I wish I could say the same for the Levi's trucker jacket from S2/3 - the modern trucker jacket is slim fitting like Rick's but it's a completely standard Levi's design, so not at all the same look. For a close match from what's available on the market today, I went for the Filson Short Lined Cruiser. The design is closer to the Levi's Tobacco Field Jacket worn by Rick but the Filson is waxed - looks worn as a result, which is good, and it's cut short to sit around belt height (also good). But it would be tricky to stitch those brown corduroy panels on the yokes due to the waxed material! Anyone else found a modern non-Levi's jacket as a substitute? I'll try to attach a pic of the Filson jacket I bought..

Heya, new here. Wanted to ask the experts a question. Basically on eBay, there's a listing for the 'Lucky Brand' shirt that was mentioned here a few pages back. This one is being sold for $175.21. Bottom line, is this an average price for these shirts? Just cause' I want to make sure if I were to buy it that I'm not overpaying for it. For comparison, I recently came across a few other 'Lucky Brand' clothing online that have similar designs listed in the range of $25.00 to $35.00. These items share identical tags, along with the pearl snap button placements, and the 'Lucky Brand' branding on the shirt pocket. Given these similarities, I'd appreciate any insights on whether the $175.21 price is worth it to avoid overpaying. Additionally, I found a listing of the same 'Lucky Brand' Rick Grimes shirt on Depop, which was priced at $25.00 (sold). If I'm mistaken for thinking that it's overpriced, please let me know as I'm no expert.

The shirts are worth what you are willing to pay. If you see a shirt that you think is the exact same model as the screen worn one for a usual shirt price then either its not screen accurate or the seller isn’t a costumer and doesn’t know what it is. Salt Valleys, Lucky’s and Levi’s can look right at first glance but its all research that confirms it.

I got a Tobacco Field jacket, which there is no mistaking, for $40 off a classifieds sight because they didn’t know what it was. Doesn’t change the fact they go for several hundred or that it means it is overpaying. I just got lucky.

Check past sales on ebay and see what they have sold for. I would spend more time getting familiar with what is and what is not accurate before shelling out that much for a shirt.

And just a heads up, probably best not to say where and what price you saw because both may be gone by the time you read this.

Good luck
