Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

I feel like I'm really late to the premiere! There is so much to do!

I still need to weather everything!

Pants - done (Luke likes it!) :)
Calça (7) copy.jpg

Pouch - I don't have de right metal parts. My husband will make a fake ALICE clip.
Pochete (1) copy.jpgPochete (4) copy.jpgPochete (3) copy.jpg

Wrap dress - It's anchored on the shoulders and raw edged (fixed yesterday).
Blusa (2) pq.jpg

Belt - I need to harden it and add the details.

Wrist cuff - We'll just paint it at one side. I don't want it to be to thick.

Arm wraps - I just tried one, but I'm happy with it.

Boots - I will mod some work protection shoes. Hard work needed. I will have to change almost everything.
Sapatos copy.jpg
Po-Zu boots are too expensive to import to Brazil.
We paid a small fortune just to bring Kylo's mask (yes, we are making both cosplays!). Our money is worth very little outside of our country. :cry

Staff - My husband will custom make it from electrical and pipe pieces.

Well... We are doing our best and very excited with the premiere!

Alrighty, I'm ordering the raw silk fabric from Dharma Trading for the pants today. Alas, the undershirt fabric (hemp & jersey cotton) is sold out but expected to be back in soon. So I'll hold off on that.

Question: Does anyone know what the top of Rey's pants look like? I'm currently trying to figure out what kind of waistband to do.

I have the same question about the top of the pants as TheLadyNerd. Any suggestions?

I also need to order the hemp/cotton jersey :( It's been sold out for a while now.

How many yards did everyone get of the jersey and the viscose? I am not sure how much to get. I am small - 5'4" barely, average build. Any suggestions? (That's me in the avatar.) My sewing skills are OK - I brushed up a couple years ago making some bags, but I learned everything originally in middle school.

Thanks divison 6 for the links! Does the belt have silver square buckles or are they bronze? What size is best?

I am so grateful for this thread! I am VERY late to the game, hoping to get together my Rey by the premier, but the only thing I've done is a quick dye test today. Totally by chance I happened to have a lot of great fabrics that will work well enough (perfectly by my standards): a transparent crinkled cotton, linen harem pants, a nice wool for the arm wraps, and a big sheet of linen for the head wrap. These are test-dyed with varying levels of coffee and black acrylic, and I like how they're looking (the colors are a bit off in the photo, but they look quite nice in person.

I'm not sure it will matter... the tunic completely covers it and the belt will hold it all down, so whatever kind of waistband won't show anyway. Most of us have been using the self tie palazzo pants, but you could also do a drawstring or elastic.. whatever is most comfortable...since it's not going to show anyway.

For the palazzo pants I cut down the ties and added velcro.
The pants already have elastic in back.

If making it from scratch I would use either velcro or a tie cord like sweat pants have.
Maybe elastic.but not really needed.

I apologize if this is a repeat or dumb question. I have followed a potential lead or 2 on here for a staff with no luck, but is anyone selling or sharing files for Reys staff in here. I have a 3d printer so could print my own if needed but CAD sldesign is not my thingas of yet.

On the right side of the belt the front straps taper down some and have 2 metal loops.
The back straps taper down, go through the loops, then over one and under (through) the other then they weave through 4 slots in the back of the belt.

Basically your average 2 loop belt.

Those 2 pix of Rey are pretty much everywhere now since they are promo pix.
There are 3 or 4 life size you can get through Fathead Posters.

Do we know what color the loops on the belt are? Silver?

Dyed all the fabrics and gloves today, and made the wrist band (from the awesome pattern someone posted here - thanks!). The gloves are just generic yellow work gloves with some extra leather patterns I glued on top; not what I wanted, but good enough, and ultra cheap.

Also dyed two, worn-out Ace bandages for the arm wraps, the crinkled cotton for the sash, wool strips for the leg wraps, and linen for the head-wrap. The linen pants and cotton henley are still drying on the line. We'll see if I can pull this off by the end of the week before going back to school.

Also, I've followed this thread from the beginning, but I don't think anyone has posted any details on how the headdress works. Thoughts?

I bought my Hemp-Jersey at Hemp Traders.
Got the CA-K3 natural. (bought 6 yards (in case I mess up, only really need 2 - 2.5)
For the Viscose I bought 4 yards, cut into 3 strips gives me the full wrap (stitched at the bottom of the loop) and the mystery wrap.
The natural woven fabric for the head wrap (long sleeve shirt) I bought 3 yards that was just enough for a simple shirt (traced off of one of my Tees)

I had picked up the Simplicity 1461AA pattern but after looking at it realized it's made in panels so I just picked up a Burda Style 6809 that looks closer to our needs.

Thank you on the silver! And thank you for this too.

Do you think you'll need to dye the natural hemp jersey for the shirt or is it the right color?

Buckles and loops.

Staff strap tri-glide silver - painted dark brown and weathered
Shoulder pad tri-glides and "D" rings, black
Pack and belt loops, silver.

It looks about right but needs to be dirtied up.

Just found this video on sewing the Henley Placket (same persons site I linked to a few pages back).
Easier to understand than just pictures.

Final order should probably be switched since the video looks like it's for a Men's shirt.

Awesome. Watched half of it last night. Looks helpful.

So I was thinking it might be fun to bring my Sphero BB-8 to the premiere as an accessory. And then I realized I have no bag as a purse planned out. So I may make the canvas bag so I have a purse. But I was browsing yesterday online and I found this:

So, I bought it :) That might do the trick if I don't make a bag!
