Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

I made my own pattern.
We don't use to buy patterns in my country. We just lay some similar clothes on top of brown paper and draw it, making the adjustments.

Here is the high resolution reference picture:

I'm having a hard time with the fabric for the trousers.

I can find it beige or gray, so I bought gray and will dye it slightly beige.

There's a new Star Wars related Duracell commercial out. It features some kids playing and imagining that they're in the Star Wars universe. A bunch of Force Awakens related things make an appearance, such as C-3P0 with his red arm, TFA style storm troopers, the new style Star Destroyers, etc. Near the end of the commercial one of the kids is dressed in a Rey costume, and she's given Luke's green lightsaber from Return of the Jedi to fight with along side the other kid who's wielding a blue Graflex saber and wearing Luke's leaked robes from TFA. The girl dressed as Rey also is show using force push powers. So if any of you putting together a Rey costume are looking for something to add to your costume, Luke's ROTJ lightsaber might end up being a film accurate prop for Rey to wield. Or it's possible Duracell is just making stuff up for their commercial.

Yeah I know, I cut them down. ;)
I would have ignored it accept for the second pic, unless that was just a rehearsal or publicity shot.

I finally got the guts to cut down the 72 year old signal pouch last night.
The canvas frays really easily.
Should have it finished sometime today.

Leather pack is done accept for the straps and weathering, still making the accessories for it.
Working on the belt and bracer.

I haven't cut into the bag that i came across to make the pouch either. Actually, I've totally stalled on this project. I have some of the components, but just haven't gotten fired up to get it going... I guess it's because we won't be attending on opening night (our tickets are for a few days after) and I expect the fire will be stoked in me to complete this outfit after I've had a chance to see the film and connect fully with Rey.

But until then it's just been sort of like "pick this up...find that" but no building so far :-/

I have the pants (uncompleted), the gloves, the boots (on the way) and the pouch (untouched). I have the material for the wrap dress...and that's it.

I am So far behind. :-(

At less then 50 days now I'm finally in panic / get my butt in gear mode and multi tasking on several parts at once.
Drying times is one of the big slowdowns.
This hand sewing everything takes forever.
Took about 6-7 hours just to assemble the backpack.

In a few minutes (after lunch) I go back to dying leather and sewing.
Got about 20 plus things that still need working on. :wacko
