Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

Those all look good! I think this is the route I'm going to have to go. I would wear the Po-Zu boots every day if I could get them, but price and the fact that I have extraordinarily big feet for a woman (US 16) means that they are likely out of my reach :(
I'm thinking I'll either have to get mens' boots and cover them like most people have done, or see if I can get a moccasin pattern and try to make myself a pair of shoes out of felt and leather. I'm tempted to go with the latter idea.....

Trying my first two-part mold. Attempting to cast the goggle "clips", a nice small piece to try a two-part mold without using too much silicone. When I am finished with my daughter's costume, I hope to have learned a bit about 3d modeling, molding and casting and have all the necessary "greeblies" in resin form for the build. One of the things I love about prop making is the challenge to solve problems and learn new things. :)

I think it looks great.

My husband contacted his nurse friend that currently lives in the UK. If her hospital has it in stock, she might be able to mail some to me or have the Boots sent to her. But currently waiting for a response. Fingers crossed and Ill keep you posted.

Goggles: I know some of you bought the "third hand" for the light attachment to the goggles. I went to my local parts store and found an extended mirror.
I do believe this is the same piece that we need. If so, I can pick up some and mail out whoever may need it. (don't worry its very cheap)

This may be the wrong size...not sure what the measurements are but same idea

Anyone have any tips on how to make the leg wraps stay wrapped around the leg in the X pattern. mine seem to shift around and not stay put.

The picture is just an example I found to show what I got. I will measure it when I get home but the one I got seems be the scale size to the picture.
It was $1.75 and not far from my house.

I haven't licked that either, I'm afraid. i had to constantly re-tie them at the con two weeks ago. :wacko

I suspect that's why we only see her wearing them like that at the beginning of the film... the rest of the time they were wrapped round her legs above the calves. LOL

If they turn out to be right I would like to get some from you to complete my goggle builds. :thumbsup

Yeh she wears them inside the ship after that they're not really visible....don't think my wife is going to do them on the calf at all.
@kristenhenry70 what did you end up using for the shoulder cap thing material? Been looking at different carpet mats at stores haven't seen anything usable yet.

Re: leg wraps.

A Chinese finger trap tie pattern (YouTube finger trap suturing) would help on the wraps, but because legs are bigger at the top than the bottom, even that isn't going to stay easily, and you'd have to tie it too snugly for comfort to even have a hope of it working - even then, likely nope. So maybe the old hairspray trick? Spray your legs down to make them sticky, then do your wraps?

Personally, I'm just so not doing them.

unfortunately I have to do them, as my version of the costume is Full Scavenger. :(

Fett4real...I used a kitchen rug from Dollar General. I have to go back today to buy another because I stupidly threw the rest away believing that I wouldn't need it, and now that im making a second backpack... I do. lol.

ill try to find the same one and take a pic of the labelm

Oh sweet. Hillary was thinking going there too lol!

You don't HAVE to wear those around your calves if you don't want. There's reference in the movie with her not wearing them. In full scavenger.

If you're at an official event for the legion then maybe...but honestly they should be optional in the CRL.

My two part mold experiment for the goggle "clips" worked out. I removed the little bit of flashing where the seam was and the pour spout from the end and it turned out pretty well. Next I will cast two more, drill the holes and paint them.

I've done a similar thing for my goggle builds.

I *may* have some extras once the run is completed, and was thinking of offering them if people want to upgrade their goggles.

Apparently I can't possibly torture myself enough, so I decided to make a second scavenger backpack:

The "new" one is on the right, my original on the left.

Main differences are:

1. The "new" one is 100% hand made by me...from raw hide and cut, oiled and hand stitched. My hands hurt. :p
2. Slightly different scale... and I mean SLIGHTLY. I was amazed that they came out almost identical in size, considering my first pack was a kit-bashed messenger bag from Amazon.

I just need to distress the leather on the new one a bit...the only thing i don't like about the new one is that it looks too new! But since distressing and weathering are my speciality, I don't expect i shall have much difficulty with beating this one up to an acceptable level.

Great job on the pack! :)
