Hi Kirsten, are you saying the 4th run won't go, or you aren't yet sure what you will do?
So many crazy snags this week in getting my Rey finished, where I thought it was all ready to be approved.
i understand if you can't do more, and I am hoping somehow you will want to again. My two folks who help me are
no longer an option, so will be looking for basic help.

I'm just not sure as yet if I will do any more runs.
I completed run #2, and have not taken any money for run #3 yet.
As promised, I'm going to take this week to make up my mind what i shall do. I've been toying with a few different ways to make them smaller and more screen accurate... since that seems like what people have said their only complaint about them was (too big) so I've been trying that and fighting burnout as well as trying not to let the one nitpick complaint I got put me off doing them at all.
I don't want to act rashly... so that's why i'm going to give myself this week to see if my new ideas work, and see if I have some love left in my heart for making these.
Here's what i've been working on:
The pair on top is the new "smaller" pair.

The smaller one does not have a TK face plate as a base...and I used smaller lenses from usajdm.

That's a lot of work. Maybe take off a couple months between runs? I would gladly wait 6 months to get a nice set from you, It has to feel right to you, I

I agree with this. No way we want you not to feel good about this! You've been the inspiration for my costume ever since I started, and you've helped so many people.
Edit:
Even though the first one is bigger, I think that overall it looks better with the TK faceplate. It gives the goggles more form.
And don't let one little comment mess you up. You're doing a big thing, and we all appreciate you.

See... that is my quandry. I can't seem to get my googles to look as good without the faceplate...yet i don't think *they* used a faceplate. :wacko
I have a couple of things in the works:
A. I have someone sending me a mini TK faceplate... we will see what that does.
B. I may take the full sized faceplate and cut it in half at the bridge of the nose... to give the flexibility of the screen used pair, but with the structure of mine. Also cut it down some and move the lenses inward so it's not so big overall.
C. I am experimenting further with the leather base. i have a new pair that I'm making just now which *may* turn bout better than my first leather base attempt. we shall see.
Meantime...
I have had one positive development. I can now offer a WORKING LIGHT!!!!
I've been experimenting with wiring a single white LED into my stunt light, and then running wires inside the goggles to a button cell battery holder, and with a concealed switch on the right side of the goggles...just like the screen used pair.
I don't know how many of you looked closely at this screen shot, but you can clearly see red and black wires coming from the back of the light:
Since I've had no luck finding a twist on light that fits in my sculpt--and since visible wires are screen accurate-- I decided to wire my stunt lights up!
I've routed the wires along the helping hand arm, but instead of leaving them red and black--since almost nobody noticed them anyway--I've painted them to match the helping hand arm so they are extremely discrete:
I've cleverly concealed an easy ON/OFF switch under the pigskin on the right just behind the light:
And i've found a way to use a button cell battery to power it, with a retainer inside the goggles for easy replacement:
So yeah.... I've been busy this week.
If--and I stress IF I have success with getting a new size/shape that i love, then i will continue the runs...and they will also include this working light with a slight increase in price to cover the electronics.
If this comes to pass I can also see about retrofitting run #1 and #2 goggles...though it would be difficult as I would have to have them shipped to me to install the electronics. another option might be for me to put together kit for each of you, and just have me ship you the parts (including a new stunt light) and you could remove your stunt light and send it back to me as an exchange. You would have to have someone on your end who can do the soldering, though because the wires pass through the light and through the goggles before they reach the switch and battery.

Kristen, if you DO decide to do upgrades for the run #1 goggle, let me kn ow. I'd be interested in picking up the parts and doing the install myself.

I think the 'bigger' ones look more like hers anyway. Her goggles lenses kind of wrap around her forehead a little. They might feel wide to some, but that's because they are (supposed to be)

I can easily give you the rundown on the parts I used. They are very simple.
It's a single white 5mm LED, a micro on/off switch and a battery retainer for a CR 2032 button cell battery... that's it. I plan to make a trip to Micro center this week to get replacements (I had these parts lying around) and when I do i'll give you specific part numbers. Very simple wiring... no resistor or anything. Just two wires off the LED, flowing to the battery retainer, with the switch put in the positive lead to sever the connection. Basic.

I used the larger (screen accurate) lenses, and traced my TK faceplate onto a hunk of thick leather and cut it out and glued the lenses on the outside surface of the leather--as opposed to the back of the faceplate--and got a result much closer to the mannequin pic above.

I wonder... how differently shaped/sized are a TIE pilot's faceplate from a regular TK? I just found a thread on the Rebel Legion where someone used a TIE faceplate to make their goggles, but they don't have any photos of it being worn so it's hard to tell how different the size and shape might be.

I'm not an expert on them, but as far as I know the faceplates are identical on both helmets.
