I'm with you--someone make a V2
guys ive tired searching but cant find the answer. what is the difference between the hero and v2, is the v2 the resin stunt saber?
Here is a pretty good explanation: Elstree Props Return of the Jedi Lightsaber Auction ? Update 3 : The Original Prop Blog ? Jason DeBord's TV and Movie Prop Memorabilia Resource
It seems like new info is always coming out so take the info with a grain of salt since I do not know if it has all the latest data. However I think it will answer your question.
That's a good comparison and illustrates my point quite well. Almost all other Luke ROTJ hero saber replicas are based off of resin casting that suffer from quite a bit of shrinkage, and most don't realize how much. If there is interest I would be happy to do another run.

RussRep did a V2 run about 1-2 years ago. I now have 3 of the V2s now in my collection. So I'm ready for a Hero. I have the EFx reveal and the MR LE but would like original trilogy add nice fan made version.
My initial interest in the V2 was due to the fact that I had a Luke Return of the Jedi costume. You can't wear a hero because a tri-ring does not hang very well on the hook and the tri-ring is lined up directly with the activation box. Which means the box digs into your leg when wearing causing pain and costume damage. The V2 has a d-ring and it does not line up to the box.
However, over the last couple years, My attention has returned to the hero. The V2 has started to bother me because its appearance is not very well thought out. At first, you look at it an think, old beat up lightsaber with paint missing. But it does not make sense for a jedi to "paint" a lightsaber and then on top of that... in the matter of a short time, have most of that paint peel/chip away. So then you need to consider, What if the paint is not meant original trilogy to be paint, but instead weathering/scoring/whatever... So the places where you see blotchy black, it is not paint but dirty (why so dirty?). Which would mean without the blotchy paint it would be colored more like a stunt, which it colored after the hero.
I'm sure someone here knows more about the sabers and their use in production/filming. I guessing that the V2 was not meant to have the amount of noticeable screen time that it did, or the Hero was not available, or no one thought a bunch of OCD prop fanatics would scour through footage frame by frame over 30 years later.
So in short... I still love my V2s but... Anakin Starkiller, I'm ready for your next run of Heroes.![]()
I did a run a couple years ago and at that time the market for Luke ROTJ sabers seemed pretty well saturated. But, if this has changed, I could always do another run over the summer. I think I sold mine for around $150.
