Ressikan Flute

Funny there would be a thread on this prop right now ;)

Here's mine.

Fully playable. I even learned how to play the "Inner Light" on it.
I'm working on a box for it currently...
In fact, I've made a couple for a few friends.

Sporak, what did you use for the "eyelets" on the around the holes??

Mine is going to be a more brassy color like the ones in "The Inner Light" and "Lessons".

Penny Juday says the flute was milled out of aluminum by HMS!

That's what it felt like to me when I examined it.

Another member here said it was made out of brass when this topic came up months ago and I thought to myself if thats brass it's the lightest brass I have ever held! :lol

Sweet job on the Flute Sporak!

That is amazing !!! Very nice job. It looks great. Did the silver things around the finger holes effect the flutes sound at all? Man that looks better than any of the replicas I've seen of it to date. Very nice work. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.

I did one with the box about a year ago...
will look for the pictures.
I started with an old Clark also it was about 40 years old :)

The flute is amazing. I might actually be down for one if someone made it with the box. That was definitely one of my favorite episodes too.

so I can hit all the notes in the inner-light tune .
I based the fingering arrangement on the Practice chanter I had left over from the bagpipes
no sense having a flute you cant play
and if you cant play.....

That's a great replica of the case... any tips you could share on the method of recreating the layered pieces or how you did it? (y)thumbsup

I used 2 different sized grommets...it plays pretty true, but you have to make sure you have a good seal around the holes.

The coppery color it now appears is tarnished brass...it was a lot lighter on screen when it was new.

You have to decide if you want "current prop look" or "As used in look" as far as paint.

I'm currently working on 3 boxes for these...

the box was harder than the flute to build.its made of wood with lots of random bits of cut paper glued to the box, just like the video talked about.
then it was air brushed and sponge painted in color trying to match the photos.
I wish I had Phase's pictures back then as they clearly show most of the shapes,Im afraid the box I did has too many layers but it does look nice for display.

Hands down one of my top 5 desired props, I really wish someone would make one! I just couldn't bring myself to shell out $400 for the STTE version:

Which is why I've never purchased anything from STTE. Over priced and the accuracy was always WAY off.

Your case is more authentic to the Inner Light episode as that's the way the original looked. The case in the pictures above for the auction was redone and it looks a bit different. Great job overall... (y)thumbsup

I just bought a Clarke Tin Whistle that I will use to replicate the prop. And I am about to go to Michael's to get a wooden box to recreate the case.

But could someone repost the images that Serenity posted? This thread is almost twelve years old and the pictures have disappeared.

And here is the link to Penny Juday looks at the Ressikan Flute
