Remakes........enough already! ARTHUR

From the NY Times -
It would be conventional to describe “Arthur” as a vehicle for the talents of Russell Brand, who plays the boozy billionaire of the title, but that would be to get it backward. Mr. Brand, with his stringy hair, stretched-out body and nutty British demeanor, is more like the beast of burden, charged with hauling this grim load of mediocrity to the box office.

Now Generaly I don't give a crap about big paper reviews, but I have a feeling this one is on the money.

I found him excruciatingly dull and shallow - like there's nothing going on behind the surface.

I was fortunate......i went to go attend a 9:45 showing of arthur and the showing was cancelled........

so the theater gave the free passes and the option to get our money back or see the 11o clock showing of arthur.....my friend and I went to see Hanna instead.....I must admit....i was wrong about Hanna...the film was very entertaining....i liked it...i wouldnt watch again, but i enjoyed it...then we got to see arthur at 12am......the movie is mediocre at best......definitely wouldnt watch it again.....half the time, i couldnt understand what brand or nick nolte were saying.....

so basically, i get to see 3 movies for the price of one....if i just saw Arthur alone, then i would have felt rip off haha

his co star is absolutely gorgeous tho

The original was on TV a few weeks ago. Dudley Moore had charm. You liked Arthur. He was a likable guy for all his character flaws.

Brand is just weird.

But I never see re-makes anyway.

I have to wonder whether Brand was chosen for the movie or the movie was chosen for him.

As to Katie Perry, if one is to believe her E! bio, she knew what she wanted to do from an early age and stuck to her dream, despite having several false starts in the music industry.

I saw Arthur today. Enjoyed it very much. Apparently so did quite a few others as everyone in the theatre was laughing out loud throughout the movie.

My GF and I went to go see Arthur last night and she liked it quite a bit. I have been in a **** poor mood so I didn't get much out of this due to that but honestly it had it moments. Now, neither of us had seen the original for ages so we watched it on Netflix streaming tonight and you know what? I enjoyed the remake more. I remember the original being far more fun than it was when I rewatched it tonight. The remake did follow the original fairly well to be honest. A few things updated and changed around but still pretty close.

They've remade Fright Night.

All I can say is that if someone remakes The Breakfast Club, Hollywood better be prepared for a revolt.

I"m interested in seeing the Fright Night remake....but already know they've changed some things around.

Don't say that too loudly, Hollywood is listening. I'm sure someone is itching to remake all of the Brat Pack movie.

2 remakes for Russell brand. He's attached to the Drop Dead fred remake also

Wha-huh? Why the heck does THAT need remade? So, from alternative comedian's movie to "the people's poet's" movie? Are there any other British comedic movies Hollywood needs a star for? Are they going to put him in a remake of "Life of Brian"?

Well, they're going to reboot the Amazing Spider man in 2012 starting Andrew Garfield. I guess that really, really old Spider man movie from way back in 2002 just was begging to be remade.

There's rumor that next year they're going to remake Ironman, District 9, Watchman, The Adjustment Bureau, and Avatar... not squeals, just remake them.

... and still there's no second season of Firefly :cry

This has more to do with holding on the the franchise license than anything else. Similar o the Superman movie.
