Release agent on chavant clay sculpture?

Just about to have a second go at making another mold for my joker bust (the first one didn't release correctly and damaged the inner glove).

I am using NSP Chavant medium and on my last effort I didn't use any release agent on the sculpture, is it wise to do this or best to just apply the silicone directly (as I did before)? I am using Dragon Skin 10 NV for the glove.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You have to be sure that the Nsp is clean and is not going to be any inhibition issue.
If is clean ease release 200 is marvelous as coment before. If your not sure is completely clean the nsp use 2 layers of krylon spray over the sculpture and then ease release 200. In that case you will be completely safe!!!!

Thanks guys.

I have Ease Release 205 in a non-spray can. I didn't realise you could put this straight onto a Chavant sculpture before making the silicone glove.

I have been advised to give the glove about 3 or 4 days to fully cure before taking it off of the sculpture, does that sound right? I thought Dragon Skin cured pretty fast?

In my experience with dragon skin standard setting 24 hours is more that enough. If you have a faster one 12 or 6 hours is enough. Check the product sheet.

I agree, 24 hours should be fine and the data sheet seems to agree, mind you it will be more like 36 hours by the time I get the outer shell molded around it.

Any platinum cure silicone are able
To cure not expulses to air. Anyway 36 hours just in case is a very good thinking way!!!!!

Okay so the mold went pretty well and released from my sculpture okay - it survived well, so I am happy about that! there is a tiny bit of repair work on a 3mm tear in a place that is hidden, so I am going to repair it and hope it holds.

I am a little untrusting of the Ease Release 205 as the silicone mold print layer just looks fragile as hell, so am seeking something that will guarantee a good release.

I have read that petroleum jelly thinned with naptha is a winner, any advice on this is welcome, thanks in advance!
