Red Hood costume.

I'm thinking of doing a Red Hood costume from the new animated movie. Batman:Under the Red Hood.

I need some help finding places that have parts of the costume or people who can make the things unavailable for sale.

I found a person that can make a custom leather jacket for cheap. All the other stuff looks like it has to be made.

Any suggestions on the helmet?

Yep, I picked up the movie last night and got inspired to sculpt and create the Red Hood helmet as well. Pretty cool movie.


I was thinking a urethane "cowl" type of helmet would work, but it really is a rigid helmet rather than a flexible mask. Fiberglass might be the best, although it needs to be quite snug to the face rather than looking like an Ironman helmet, for example.

Maybe look at your local car-repair shops and ask if they know where to buy fiberglass, or if there is a boat builders/repairs shop around they might help you with Resin and fiberglass.

That's the first time I've ever seen that. We have hardware stores but they sell drills and chainsaws.

They have woods, tools and some supplies but no fiberglass or resin. I talked to the owner and he said they might get some of the stuff in the store. But even with the stuff, I'm not that talented at making stuff.

its usually in the paint department. and also, you may be able to find it at an automotive store.

If you have a WALMART close to you, look at the AUTOMOTIVE section, and they should have FIBERGLASS mats (shredded and weived), and FG Resin. Other things like FG hardener and BONDO items should be available as well.

I know, since I buy those from them everytime. If not, try AUTO ZONE, NAPA, or ADVANCE Auto parts.

I dunno if this is to late but i found a Red Hood mask on ebay. It looks amazing now i need to find the rest of the costume. Anyone have any helpful ideas or websites i should check out?

BlackKaos sells a pepakura file for the mask. It's far superior to the one from Ebay and covers your full head like it's supposed to. You can find his pepakura thread here, send him a pm for details:

Ya, this is really taking off. When I originally started looking to use this as the base for my custom costume you could barely find a Red Hood thread, now there's like 6 of them, haha. I'll be looking to buy that pep file from you in about 2 weeks from now after my bills are paid and I get to start my build.
