Recasting a Sci-Fi Icon; The Classic Star Trek Communicator

Congrats on the studio approval! :)

John, BTW, please create a JY thread for any further discussion of pricing, ordering info, etc. Since it's in the main forum, this thread should be about the comm and not about obtaining one. Thanks.

As a studio approved (ie, licensed) project is there really an issue with talking about the complete project here in the regular forum?

I don't believe this is an issue that's ever been brought up. We talk about pricing and availibility of licensed replicas in this section all the time (see the R2/Threepio thread for example).

The artisan, licensee, and primary seller all happen to be the same person here - this would qualify as a special circumstance I'd imagine.

I hardly see a need to confuse the issue now with a second thread. I'm sure when its time to take legitimate orders Jlong can start a thread in the JY.

Thank you for that Gary.

I like the style of the original boxes... for the Nostalgia and all. :)

Thank you John, for making these and all Future :love ST TOS items available to us. :D

The fact that it's licensed doesn't negate the fact that the author of the thread is the one selling the product. Product selling goes on in the JY. Display and discussion of the item can by all means continue here.

I don't want to clog up John's thread, so please send any further concerns via PM.

(and, again, the comm looks great!)

Just so I'm clear; The thing you're objecting to Treadwell, is
that along with all of the info I'm sharing, and the input our
fellow RPFers are providing, I had also enabled people to e-mail
me to get on the list for first dibs when the kit becomes
available this summer?

Thank you very much.

"Objecting" is perhaps too strong a word, for I'm just applying forum rules (i.e. doing my job). But yes, technically that post was a Junkyard thing. But at this point you don't have to go create a JY thread just to repeat that same info, that's cool. If you were to start a "dibs list" in an RPF thread, then the JY would be the place, but I'm beginning to see that that wasn't the manner in which you were to be taking orders anyway.

Good luck with the project...I'm hoping I'll be able to scrape up enough couch change for one myself. ;)

Just got done with mine and I am headed to the neibors couch right now!......would you be interested in a few crayons as part trade John??? :lol
Congrats buddy they will sell like hot cakes!!!!

Sort of a dumb question but, will the kit come with the center mid-plate bar (that is always missing) that goes between the lid hinges? I was just wondering if it would have that part to build it in "as built" condition as well as how it currently looks. :)

Thanks guys!

As for the section of the mid-plate that goes
between the hinge discs, yes, it will be included:)

jlong sent me a few photos of the TMOST prototype that is going to be used for some publicity shots for the new comm kit. I asked if it was alright to share these if I wanted to, and was told I could so I thought I would post them. Man it looks like we will be building these up in no time.
