Recasting a Sci-Fi Icon; The Classic Star Trek Communicator

Thanks guys. I can't tell you how excited I am to
be able to make this available. We haven't settled on
the exact edition number yet, but it is going to be
very limited. In fact, it might be a good idea for me
to create a sign-up list for those who want to have
first shot at these. the final price will be somewhat
dependant on the edition size, but they will likely
be between $200.00-$250.00, with discounts
available on small quantities.

If you would like to be added to the list to get first
dibs as soon as these become available, please
e-mail me at: jlong1@socal.rr.com
Please put "Reserve My Comm Kit" in the subject
line, and include your contact info and number of kits
you want in the body of the e-mail.

Thanks!

John, does this mean that you won't be selling these through dealers this time, but only directly?

Are there different levels of discount depending on the the number bought or is there just single and low quanty. I was thinking along the lines of a case price. :love

Will the lids be soldered or do we have to do that part?

I am kind of hoping we have to do that part so that we can match the solder joints on whatever comm we are trying to replicate.

Thanks guys. I will be selling these through my website.
I may make them available through other retailers, but
given the low edition number, I'm not sure how much
time there will be for that.

As for discount prices, yes, I plan on creating a few
very exciting "quantity discounts". I'm thinking a special
price when you buy three, six, or, twelve kits.

Also, once you're on the list, don't be afraid to share this
message with your friends:

Quick question:
Most of you are familiar with the box art for my Phaser kit right?
If not, it can be seen here: www.saucersoverhollywood.com
It's kinda an "homage" to the ol' AMT Exploration set.
My question is this: If you had your way, for the Communicator-
kit, would you like to see a box that matched the Hand Phaser kit, or
would you prefer to see something altogether new and different?

Please do chime-in on this, as you could actually effect the
look of the box you will soon be displaying in your collection:)

Thanks!

My vote would be for the same style of box art that the Phaser kit came in.

I vote for the same style box art as well. While it bears the nostalgic look of the AMT set, it also evokes a classic 1960's feel.

Hi John,
Great work!
I would keep the same 60's style box thru the tricorder and pistol.
In my opinion..
You made a good choice in the beginning doing the boxs in the old Star Trek fashion we are familiar and comfortable with.
They look nice.

The Same for sure!.....keep a good thing going bro! and Congrats too by the way!!!:cool

I like the retro box style but it would be cool to see some other concepts. One idea could be a package that looks like an official "Starfleet-issued" box with user guide that new cadets receive...or something like that! :)

Congrats on the studio approval! :)

John, BTW, please create a JY thread for any further discussion of pricing, ordering info, etc. Since it's in the main forum, this thread should be about the comm and not about obtaining one. Thanks.
