So I made a few mods to my Sidkit, got the new Worldcon grips, weaver knob, dremeled out the side cover so you can see the cylinder.

I also painted the grip frame and the bottom of the butt plate.

Also used some perma blue on the bare metal parts. It's a tad darker in person.

Just thought I'd show off what I did all day.

These are thumbnails. EDIT: Tried to take a few more pictures.

Looks really good! :thumbsup

One of these days, I have got to try and get a kit and build one of those. It's one of my favorite movie weapons.

Excellent looking blaster!
Did you have to do any special prep to the metal parts before using the bluing solution?

Thanks for all the praise, guys. I'm pretty happy with it.

Superjedi, all I did was polish the parts with some steel wool, then washed them in warm soap and water. I applied the blue with a sponge, just wiped it on pretty much. Then I let it sit a few minutes and rinsed with cold water. I did this a few times to get it a little darker.

Thanks again guys.

Yeah the bluing was much easier than I anticipated.

Man, I think I just used q-tips and carefully brushed it on in uniform strokes.

Or maybe a sponge, a few posts up that's what I say.
