Glad this is back Lee, you must be in your glory now gluing on all the parts!!! It's going to look fantastic when finished, you have a spot picked out for it in the house?

Lee that is looking awesome. I think your belly plates look fine, but if you did tilt them a bit more it wouldn't matter too much, it looks to me like the original's belly plates were canted a little bit compared to the line of the upper hull anyway. On the other hand, the depth between the Leo chassis and the belly plates is pretty full of cargo containers and the sit of the "lowest" ones can be adjusted easily since they just sit on those square-section Plastruct tubes <edit: I think. Right?>. You're good either way.
Edge detailing is looking really good. I'm struggling too to imagine how it should all be placed before you get the plating on. Just use a lot of blu-tack for now, eh??!

Martyn, TBH, the belly plates wont be tweaked at all, they have a slight cant, so ill leave them at that, im happy with the angle at least!
The cargo boxes, there is an array of square tubing in the belly, a similar kit part exists in the Karl i think, but i was looking at a more substantial mounting point.
As for the brim trench, its NOT studio accurate bud, therefore, part placement can only be idealised and, kinda matched, we've found a few parts in the trench, but not enough to go nuts.
TBH, i wouldnt want to ID this ship fully, what a pain in the butt lol, and seriously, im not at all wanting to add another 12 months of research in missing donors to this, just wanna have some "fairly" studio accurate fun for a change!

The placement buddy, HAS to be a case of eyeballing lol, even the brim trench overlap, im trying to place the parts that will "jut" out as close as i can, so what the armor goes on, it has the same effect.
Even with the right ref, id challenge the best to ID this one fully Martyn, its really a mash up.....a typical Owyeung nightmare IMO.
Just ordered a small fleet of Tamiya Naval kits, as i have like two lol, as in conversation with Allan yesterday, id agree with him, that there is quite a bit of Tamiya 1/700 on this bird.
The overall effect? I think itll look like an RT, and for the most part, will detail up like one, itll be one hell of a looker...i hope LOL.
Youll have to check out the SW to Indy book too Martyn, in there, the non screen used side is visible, and, there is no brim trench detailing, not as far as i can see, even the armor plating is very sparse, so i think she's another "unfinished" filming wonder due to tight deadline's lol.

Looker - I don't think you need to fret too much, it's pretty much guaranteed from what you've already got. The good part with this bird is that she's an Art Deco ship and it's the shape and the plating and the weathering that make her what she is, not the greeblies.
Yeah, I have that book and even the original Japanese version. Great shot, also shows the bridge is missing nowadays unless it has been repaired since - or it could be bad cropping. AFAIK it's the ONLY published shot of that side. Definitely unfinished, even the engine cowlings are almost bare. Gives you a pretty free hand on that side, LOL!

Heheh, it IS meant to be like that. There's a good pic in Chronicles which shows some of the piping from the side. Lee's got a good eye!

The F4 engine, is a part of my mind, and a part of what a ref pic shows me, so i went with it, as the ref isnt that amazing TBH, so im just floating it lol.
The F1 exhaust pipes.....there true to accurate, as are the plastruct channel strips flanking the Tyrrell!
