Real Scooby Eaglemoss BTTF DeLorean

Agree with the superior effect the EL wire has over the original stock (?) lighting setup , but wondering if you’re experiencing the slight whining noise associated with this type of lighting ( as I did until I changed from battery powered to adapter ! ) , or is it negligible (n) ?

Ged

Yeah, there is a whinning sound, but I can life with that, as I don't plan to have it on for hours or so.
I am not a pro with anything electric, so I might be totally wrong, but to me it seems this comes directly from the indicator LED. Might give it a try and see if I can deactivate that ;)

I’m far from knowledgeable with anything electric or electronic Scooby :(!
IIRC, the whine noise/sound is emitted due to the way the light itself is produced. Something to do with the wiring or gases that’s in the EL’s makeup !?
I could be wrong, but I don’t think it’s got anything to do with the LED indicators...,
If you find out what’s causing it though , and more importantly how to stop it , then please share that info (y).

EL wire itself doesn't make any sound. Electroluminescent material, however, only glows when a high-frequency AC current is driven through it. It won’t light when hooked up directly to a DC battery.

And it’s the DC to AC inverters inside the little black driver boxes that cause the noise. There are ways of boosting the frequency higher so that the inverter doesn't emit sounds we can hear, but they're more costly. The cheaper inverters that normally ship with EL wire kits don't do that.

Ah ok, thanks for info. Now that explains why it wouldn't work to simply hook the light string directly to the wires of the original EM LEDs. That was the first thing I tried when I cut off the first string ;)

Great Scott !! At last, new issues/parts start to come in and without any more holdbacks here we go :)

This beautiful beast is stunning to look at . Really good photos too ! (y)
So, not long now to complete with..., 27(?) more issues to go right ?;)
That parts count info you’ve been sharing is certainly high already !
Have you decided on what type of finish she’ll eventually have - still aways off I know - but I’m sure it’s in the back of your mind mate. Will she be pretty much pristine , or somewhat weathered up ?

Something i should have mentioned before. There is one issue with EL stuff... It wares out... I dont know how long its going to last... but I cant deny it looks great...

Well, I plan to display her in first seen configuration as I like the original configuration the most.
As I already weathered her up everywhere else, I might add some minor black wash to the stainless parts too. I am pretty sure Doc didn't build the timemachine into a factorynew car :)
Also was thinking about who to add a layer of icing maybe
Aaaaaand, in case I can find a nice 1:8 sitting sculpture of Einstein, I might belt him into the driver seat :) :)

Thanks for the info. As it will not by lighted 24/7 I am sure it will be fine for some time. And for worst case, I am still able to easy replace it ;)

* got three new issues from France
* recived the mirrored display base from Eaglemoss UK

As promised, here we are again, doing the mods :)

Part #1 Door-Headliners by Mr. Bill Green from the FB-Moding Group

These are vacuum-formed parts from very thin polystyreene sheet and are meant to cover those ugly srewholes. These are simply mounted by doublesided tapes and are primed to almost match the other door covers. Thanks for the extra "Save the Clock Tower" sheet too :)

There would be two more sticker meant for further details on the inside, but at this stage, imposible to fit without taking the car apart again.
Also, this decal set includes two frames meant to be placed around the headlight. But again, I have absolutly NO indention to take everything apart again..... yet ;)

Now lets boost up the custom parts counter ;)

How many sets does this kit consist of and consequently what is the total cost of this car when final?
I saw the second issue at the kiosk yesterday and it's tempting but not when it's going to be 15 issues and Euro 200.-

Absolutely brilliant work so far. I just spent the last couple of nights repainting and clear coating a lot of parts like the dashboard etc. (I obviously didn't have to, I'm just fussy! :-D )

If you do end up removing the front to fit the black headlight surrounds, you should spray the thin metal grille under the bumper - it's supposed to be black!

Thx mate :)

As mentiined above, as tempting those headlight surroundings are, I wont take apart it again. I might try to paint it with a superthin brush though.
Thanks about the bumper grill, I just figured that myself and will paint it for sure when I add more weathering to a few bottom areas I forgot earluer ;) :)

Another week, another new issue :)
