Bit of a rant here (it's the Internet after all).
A long time ago, in a galaxy much closer, I purchased a 1/24 scale Jada BTTF part 1 DeLorean from Best Buy. The box was destroyed, so I got it for about 60% off. For what it is, it's a pretty good shelf piece! Some parts could use a bit of paintwork, especially on the inside (something I already took care of), and the power button for the flux band LEDs is irritatingly obvious (it was previously silver on the part 1 car, so I painted it black to disguise a bit more), but for about $20, it's fine. I will say that it's interesting that these models do not feature the DMC logo on the front, nor do they feature the imprinted DeLorean logo on the back.
Here's the frustrating bit. Naturally, I wanted to complete the line of vehicles, so I purchased the part 2 car. I don't know what happened, but they took a nosedive in detail quality. First off, the rear vents are now missing the silver pipes coming out of the sides that were previously present, and the taillights no longer offer the correct separation in color (orange, red, and white). Minor details sure, but if they were already present on the first model, why omit them on the following cars from the other movies? I've seen some reviews of the part 2 model that feature the incorrect 1985 license plate, rather than the 2015 barcode plate.
I'm not expecting perfection here, but a little bit of consistency across the models would be nice. I used to collect the Welly models, but I lost the part 1 & 2 cars I had in a previous move. When I got the part 1 Jada car, it seemed to be an improvement with the LEDs (even with the lack of any DeLorean branding), but now I'm not so sure.
What are your thoughts? Am I just being a pedantic nerd?
