In a word - no. Who's bashing his work? He can't defend himself you say? He's got his own forum AND an ARMY of FB loyalists to do this for him on a regular basis (while only presenting their version of events). I'm getting so tired of the ridiculous argument that you can't claim ownership of one of Disney's external lightsaber designs - that was NEVER the argument.

The controversy revolves around the claim of taking someone else's work (like Solo's Hold, Garry Ripper, Nocturne Armory, One.Replicas, etc.) reverse engineering it, making a few tweaks here and there to claim it's your own- yeah I saw the "defense" video, and sending it overseas to be mass produced. Who's work are you talking about anyway??

And yet, in spite of these accusations - this was not why SF was banned from IRA,FX, RPF, RL, etc. - it was for making threats and using abusive language. Someone please feel free to provide evidence to the contrary.

In a perfect world, that would be nice, but we are talking about people's hard work, reputation, and most importantly - MONEY. No doubt, there is a strong market for budget priced sabers - heck, I've owned 5 different hilts from SF over the years and enjoyed them immensely .It's just a shame that folks can't play in the sandbox without throwing sand in other kids' eyes, even though there's enough room for everyone

That's why you have to ignore all of this. I get that also there is money involved (in my business you have to keep inventing the wheel or you're lost, but that's the beauty of it), but remember that karma is a bitch.

That is unfortunate that nobody is safe in this community. Eventually Phil will slip up big time and steal the wrong person's original thing and it will bite him back hard. For now, I am bowing out of all this nonsense. Its pointless and is causing a huge rift in the community with sf and their blind supporters on one side and literally everyone else (independent smiths and even US because they catch flak from sf too) on the other. We all seem to have forgotten why we got into this hobby in the first place (if you remember why, then good for you :thumbsup ) and that is the love of Star Wars. If we are cosplaying as Jedi, Sith, or any other saber/force user, then we love Star Wars and lightsabers. A few years ago, it didn't matter where our stuff came from because it was all made under the same banner. Sure not all sabers are not made equally but some people have limitations on spending or simply can't see themselves forking over nigh $1,000 on one saber that may or may not be able to be fought with. Whether your saber costs $100 or $1,000, we can all say its still a lightsaber and fulfills a certain need for the kid inside us all.

But as it stands, saberforgery can burn for how they treat people and their thievery. Four forums, a half dozen smiths (or more), and a few cons can't be wrong about his true demeanor and nobody should tolerate it.

Although I think it's very important to support small businesses, it's also very important for these businesses to treat custumers with respect and have good business practices. SF recently set up a Yelp page, so honest reviews are needed:

I 'thought' I had read that SoloHold was accused of the same thing not too long back? (I dont have details currently.. maybe it was resolved?) A Vaders Vault hilt or something perhaps?

No. There's a lot to it but the short of it was that they were both doing the tfu2 at the same time. They got into a fight about it and threatened him with copyright infringement. When he called their bluff and said I'll see you in court they took it that he threatened legal action and used that as leverage for a ban on fx. It was pretty sickening to see it go down actually. I saw enough of the actual conversations to make up my mind about it impartially and its a reason I don't go to fx much any more.

I mi don't understand why the hobby needs to be shrouded in drama. Nerds in power fighting each other over nothing.

but -to me- seems like defending their work ,, like Solo is?

Good designs/er (IMHO)...

some of the stories I have heard/seen pics of the quality though.. questionable I guess.

In the end.. if you just put out a better PRODUCT.. you dont have to worry about things like this.

Yeah there's more to it, and it's not my tale to tell really. I think it was a bit of "I was first" when really the story is deep enough behind the scenes to negate some of the public stuff.

In any case, the result was an unjust ban (in my opinion), but the relationships have been patched I think.

funny this thread bumped back up this morning. i am researching the star wars rebels series kanan saber. well once i found out there was 3 people making them i got excited, before i ever do anything i always research, and come to find this thread... its sad people do these kinds of things to one another..

Actually I believe it to be one of his 'partners'... that has been purchasing many/all of the fonts.

Not clear as to why though.. their customers/clients should be purchasing them.

THERE WAS A MODERATOR ON THE FX FORUM THAT WAS LITERALLY STEALING FROM PEOPLE FOR OVER A YEAR( taking payment and commissions and delivering empty boxes that made it half way around the world time and again before they made it empty to the people they belonged to, KIT FISTO ( real name Joe from Kansas)- AND SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE POSTED IN THIS THREAD WERE VICTIMS OF HIS, THAT WAS A HUGE FACTOR WHY I AM NOT ON FX ANYMORE, I LEFT BEFORE THE BAN WAS IMPLEMENTED. IT CAME OUT MONTHS LATER WHEN HE DISAPEARRED AND COULDN'T COVER UP HIS ACTIVITY ANY LONGER, LETS JUST SAY HE WAS AWARE THAT I WAS AWARE OF HIS BEHAVIOR AND HE DIDN'T WANT ANYONE AROUND THAT WOULD BLOW HIS COVER, He Cyberstalked my kids Facebook accounts and said a lot of derogatory things to me, I reported it to the staff on FX.

I document all my work pretty heavily and never ever used someone else's work to base my stuff on, I show my source materials and I build it myself.
I show progress throughout the whole design process, and through out the whole production process, there are time stamped videos and threads to validate all that..

I MAKE EVERYTHING MYSELF, THERE IS NO QUESTION TO THAT AS YOU CAN SEE FROM ALL MY RUN OR BUILDS BECAUSE I LIVE WITH A CAMERA GOING CONSTANTLY BECAUSE I LIKE TO KEEP THE PEOPLE I DO WORK FOR IN THE LOOP..

Lets not get crazy. there is only one party in all this mess that ever made a Video showing comparing the 2, and its pretty ironic that the scale was 1 : 1 even though they say they didn't copy it. Well explain this then, how do you have one of my DIY KITS to even make the video if that wasn't the case? Bunch of Propaganda is all that was. Its easy to make a video and bash someone almost a year later and you have had 2 sabers in your possession all that time and done god knows what to it....

There are literally a dozen or more time stamped videos like this that go months back before this that document the whole process from inception to finish. I worked on this for a long time..

and this is the really important one, because there is so much source material that its literally impossible to have a 1: 1 scaled saber in dimensions( not that it makes a difference), but anyone can say whatever they want.. I am not defending my work, I am just reiterating the series of real events that took place.

I Made changes to the production saber that departed from the Prototypes I did based on feedback from the people that signed onto the run.. It just so happened that another company ( who never showed a working prototype and still hasn't to this day still opened a RUN the same day I opened mine.. ) EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NO SECRET THAT I HAD BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS PRIOR TO THAT... I CAN POST VIDEOS THAT GO BACK PROBABLY A HALF A YEAR OR MORE TO SOME OF THESE, THEY ARE SET TO PRIVATE, BUT IF ANYONE WANTS TO SEE THEM, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO POST THEM. NO ONE ELSE HAD EVEN CAD DRAWINGS OF THE SABER OUT THEN OR PRIOR TO THEN( nor did they have a cad render posted until well after I had a. already had proofs of concept, and b. started production or had shipped some of these sabers to the company in the OP) THAT CLAIM THEY HAD BEEN WORKING ON IT BEFORE ME.. I BUILT THEM MYSELF, SO IN THE END WHAT DOES IT MATTER.... I never bought anyones product, and no one else even had the saber I DESIGNED AND FIGURED OUT THE PRODUCTION OF, PROTOTYPED IT, OR BUILT IT AT ALL... YES I USED THE TRAILER AND PROMO IMAGES AS SOURCE MATERIAL, IT ONLY MAKES SENSE SINCE I WAS DOING THAT SABER.......... MY ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION OF IT AT LEAST. all the talk revolving around this saber, and the different entities that are involved is a bunch of conjecture.. anyone can believe what they like, but the only party that is offering up any evidence that supports is coming from me... TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. ITS A DEAD ISSUE, and anyone who wants to argue otherwise cannot back it up.. Cuz there is nothing else to back it up with, and would only serve to CEMENT THIS FOR GOOD..


LET IT DIE, IT HAS PRETTY MUCH RUINED THE LAST YEAR OF MY LIFE, I BUILD ART CUZ I LOVE IT AND I AM INSPIRED TO.. If anyone knew the amount of abuse my family and I have endured because I built some sabers for people that hired me to build them some sabers, they would be disgusted... I have been called a theif and a liar by many people just because it please them or served their ends.. I never took someones stuff and copied it. Vaders Vault is doing their own saber, and we didn't copy each other, we both used the same source materials.. THAT IS OK, THEY ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO, AND IN TRUTH I AM HAPPY FOR THEM.. SO WHEN SOMEONE BRINGS THAT ISSUE INTO THIS THREAD, LET IT BE KNOWN THAT I SPEAK WITH VADERS VAULT ON THE PHONE SOMETIMES FOR HOURS, AND WE ARE ON GOOD TERMS AS FAR AS I KNOW... THANKS
