Raimi's "The Possession" - Dybbuk Box

I just watched this movie tonight. Really interesting. I'm loving the box. I want to try and make one based on the one from the movie but perhaps not exactly the same.

I'm glad you guys liked the box. My company designed and built the box and the containers inside of it, based on art department reference. We built several versions for the film, stunt versions that didn't open, a version that was a puppeteered box and three that were fully functional, so that each piece of the locking puzzle that was discovered would trigger the next mechanism. To speak to two points raised earlier, yes the text was backwards and no, it wasn't intentional. The art department provided us with the text that they wanted enscribed on the box and it wasn't until after they had begun filming that the wife of one of the rabbis working with production noticed that they had provided backwards text, but by then it was too late to correct. Secondly, yes, the props were destroyed in a fire but that was after filming was complete. Nevertheless, production asked us to make replacement functional prop boxes to replace those lost in the fire. Check out my website at www.miniature-effects.com

Welcome to the forum, Cool that you joined us. You don't happen to have more pictures of the box other than those two on your website?

You could say that the text was backwards, unless you were in the box looking outwards, then it's the right way. From the perspective of the critter in the box, it's correct!

I like the way this turned out. I did not try to be accurate with the letters. They are illegible anyway;) I focused on the two tone wood and the brass clasps. I need to cut the lettering on the sides and add the hinges.
