Seems that QMX is heading the replica front of the newest Star Trek movie with two new items.

- Federation Class Ring Replica
- Stunt Phaser Replica

Article with pictures

The article does state they're working on potentially bringing a hero version of the phaser with moving parts, lights and sounds sometime in 2011, but so far this is it.

I'm SO glad this is still happening.

The phaser looks great. I'm delighted they have an affordable option, but I'm sure I see myself saving up after that to snag the bells-and-whistles hero version too.

Makes me wonder what Hollywood Collectibles is going to do with the license since QMX seems to have dibs on making replicas from the new movie.

Still, I'm glad the phaser looks very decent.

The Phaser looks kickass, I wonder if it can be disassembled, I have seen some amazing upgrades on this site done to the Playmates toy, shouldn't be to hard to upgrade if it does come apart. For that price I am getting one.

Doesn't seem likely. Heck, I wouldn't even say that the barrels move since Trekmovie.com confirmed with Andy Gore that "QMx is still developing a ‘hero’ phaser replica from the Star Trek movie made out of solid aluminum, complete with a rotating barrel and lights and sounds."

Just look at some of the pictures. The knob on the back is molded with the bas as a one-piece element. I think this is the QMX equivalent of eFX's stunt sabers.

I really don't like the Phaser design that much but I am looking forward to getting this stunt version. The price can't be beat either. I can only hope there will be some way to make the barrel rotate by hand.

It's nice to finally see what they are up to. I'm really looking forward to that phaser!

Unless the Hero version is in the $100-$150 range, I'll definitely be getting one of these. If they can pull off the hero for those prices (kinda doubt it) I'll just get one of those. I usually just display my stuff instead of "playing" with it anyway.

I spent a few hours at their booth at comicon. A great bunch of guys who are really passionate about what they do. Andy really seemed to care what the fans want in a replica and tries to keep as much people happy as possible. The stunt phaser was pretty impressive for that price point and Andy tells me the final version will be even sharper than the proto shown. I liked the 3 different colors on the phaser.

The price of the stunt version sounds sweet. Did they have any info on the price of the hero version at comicon?

I got all excited realizing that the 15th had passed and that my pistol should have shipped...then I remembered that they are expected to ship on the 15th of NEXT month. Drat this waiting.
