QMx & Other New Sonic Screwdrivers Thread

A spot to accomidate extra batteries and the mini screwdriver to open the battery compartment would be cool too...

I'm pretty sure that's not the reason the screen used Sonic didn't have sound- incorporating sound into a screen filmed prop would a) be an absoloute nightmare for the sound guys in the dub, and b) would be extremely difficult for it to be loud enough to be picked up effectively enough for filming. It's not so much a case of 'couldn't', more a case of 'unnecessary and surplus to requirements'.

I knew I had forgotten to add something in there LOL See if I stay up past 1am EST anymore :p

I like where you guys are going with this. Not only make the sonic screen accurate but make the box for it behind the scenes screen accurate too. Love it!!! This gets my vote.

The perfect "set accurate" case would be this one....

Of course you have to buy 4 QMx sonics to get one!

It's just an AA mini Maglite box. You can get them anywhere.

My point exactly. QMx could buy them in bulk, slap a stick of Rassilon on it and BINGO! We have our case and very little effort on their part. Everybody happy...well...knowing this group mostly everybody happy. ;)

The only way i could possibly be absolutely 100% sold on the packaging of the 11th sonic is if it came with a full sized Tardis and Karen. but for now I guess i can settle with just the sonic....

In all seriousness though, I noticed that the spring action on the 11th Sonic was a bit of fidgety side, and required bit of force behind the wrist flick to open the thing. My only concern is weather or not the production version will need the same amount of force to open.

My guess, just from watching Matt Smith use it this season vs last, is that it requires less force over time.

Anyone catch CT's latest blog entries regarding the recent postings on this thread?
OUCH!
It hurt MY feelings, and I wasnt even mentioned in them!

Yeah, he's got a mad on for Phez, now don't he? Reading that set of blog entries was as much fun as watching the youtube video of Michael Richards loose his mind on stage...repeatedly.

It'll be interesting to see what he says on his blog if and when QMx go to product.

Oh and for those of you out there that think I hate CT despite my repeated statements that I don't this part of his post pleasantly surprised me:

"It's a lovely prop and is actually a lot better and more accurate than my current version. There are many things perfect with it including the black bulb shape and the body"

Grats to QMx and their artisans for getting positive commentary out of their most vocal and harshest critic.

I don't bruise easily and honestly do not think enough about the guys opinions on anything for it to bother me :lol:lol:lol.

I like winding him up every once in a while and watch the Tourette Syndrome kick in :lol. Believe it or not I do not actually dislike the guy and would call bull**** on anyone who made the same claims without backing it up. He showed a couple photo crops proving he has at least two Hi-Res photos of some of the props and I consider the issue closed (although the full story is still a bit far fetched :rolleyes but who knows).

In any case, the race is on - and according to CT, he's in the lead.
I guess that's one of the elements of this hobby and Qmx should consider that in the timing of their product.

I doubt that will be a motivation in there release time (although it would be cool if they came out faster :lol). With having the shows prop makers name on a licensed piece in that low of a number they are going to sell them out one way or the other. If they feel that a piece is a threat they will simply do like they did with the Farnsworh and and have there lawyers send out a C&D request (I seriously doubt they are worried :lol).

CT did mention a good point concerning the price tag of the Tesla gun and the complexity of that item vs the Sonic. He said we may very well get a $2,000.00 price on the sonic - this is one comment that I really hope is not the case in the end.
