Interesting discussion.
Please allow me to try to give out some more helpful info (what I can at this timeÂ…all info subject to change, management assumes no responsibility, etc etcÂ…)
We are interested in hearing ALL feedback from collectors, both positive AND negative. What I would LIKE to curtail, is the: “I don’t like you, cause my friend says you are a jerkwad, so I am going to take ANY comments your company makes as a personal insult to make my point how much I don’t like you and then PM you to reinforce how much I dislike you even though I have never met you and don’t know you from a can of paint.”
If you want to do THAT, you can keep your dimeÂ…we donÂ’t really need it.
Like the other guy said…”Lighten up, Francis.”
RememberÂ…If you always go through life looking for a fight, you will always find one.
GuysÂ…
We are a bunch of prop collectors, designers, and business people who love these properties and want to make really cool models at fair prices.
ThatÂ’s about it.
No hidden agendas, no “death lists”, no “backroom payoffs”, not trying to get anyone banned behind the scenes, we have never asked the RPF mods to “alter” the threads or admonish anyone, etc… If you can prove otherwise, BY ALL MEANS…do so.
We just wanna make props. COOL props.
Being collectors and very-very-long-time RPF members ourselves, we are ALWAYS up for a fight.
So, we politely ask that you address us as you would like to be addressed… and life will be just spiffy. If you wanna carry-over “baggage” from another board, or wanna start slinging innuendo and rhetoric, insult the company or employees, be prepared to get taken to the woodshed. We are business people, not punching bags.
Cool?
But we would much-prefer to just talk about cool prop replicas. NOWÂ…
Yes, we have started development on a large-scale Serenity model. NOPE, it isn’t studio scale because the filming miniature was like ten-feet long. We are TRYING to incorporate lights and a spinning fusion core, which MIGHT make the price go up a bit, but it also may not. Looking at that right now. We may also produce a very exclusive “reaverized” version if there is enough interest (250 units maybe?) The model is patterned from the original lightwave files supplied by Tim Earls and using hi-rez reference shots supplied by Universal.
We are in discussions with Nathan FillionÂ’s agent RIGHT NOW, so that is why his name isnÂ’t on the SE yet. Deal isnÂ’t inked.
Again, specifications ALWAYS subject to changeÂ…
It is slated to ship in late-summer/early fall, 2007. We will feature a progress “log” on our blog showing pics of the prototypes, engineering drawings, updates from the factory, etc.
Ditto on the large-scale Galactica. It is looking to come in around two-feet long and at this time, (to the best of my knowledge) QMx is the ONLY company slated to be making a large-scale model of this ship. Something could change, but that is what I know right now. Take that for what you will. It will be in a “diorama” format…i.e.; per our license, it has to be orbiting a planet, launching Vipers, etc. Emulating some scene from the show. So that is what it will incorporate. (but the scene won’t be glued together, so you can improvise…)
We are hoping to use some very innovative production techniques to enable the model to have separate hull plating and fully-detailed, open landing bays. Specifications subject to change. There will also be retailer-exclusive versions such as a battle-damaged model and a pilot-version model with the “gift shop-windows” on the starboard landing bay. Maybe another version as well. No lights. Specifications subject to change.
The BSG models should be about $300 to $349. Not set yet. Scheduled release is Sept-ish.
The WOTW martian war machine will be in two versions. FIRST is the static, model-only molded from Greg Jein's 15-inch wide original filming model. The SECOND will be an interactive blowed-up-street diorama with lights and sound.
All of these higher-end products will have the X-pay, 3 to 5 payment plan available. We want to get the Dog Tags and Mal pistols shipped before we “officially” announce these items for actual pre-order. We are hoping to have tags out first week of Feb and Mals before the end of the month? Working on it. Dracula rings are slated for shipment this month.
In Feb, we are also releasing a fully-licensed set of blueprints of the Serenity designed and hand-signed by Tim Earls and Geoff Mandell and hand numbered. Limited to 500 pieces. Includes the shuttles, the Mule, etc and Serenity interior and exterior views, created from the original source files and featuring data and drawings never seen by the public. 18” by 24” sheets... NOT folded…rolled. Begin more dead horse jokes. SRP $135 ish. Already a quarter-sold out…wow. This will also include some other surprise goodies and a discount coupon for purchasing the Serenity model. The blueprints should be on the site for sale at the end of the month.
Or come to the FX show in Orlando on Jan 26th to 28th and pick one up in-person.
When you get a chance, check out our blog...it currently has a couple of video interviews and we have dozens more coming...15 hours of footage from Forrest Ackerman, Rainmaker, Stargate CGI technicians, ISS, BSG, Stargate, and Serenity special effects staff, etc. VERY cool info. And new stuff coming in every day.
We hope to make our fellow-"RPFers" and "Scummers" proud.
I got nuthinÂ’ elseÂ…(for now)
Start snide comments on OT board in ten, nine, eightÂ…
