Punisher: War Zone - Frank's vest

might have been there with a booth representing the movie, also the boots are gonna be hard to figure, the pic already posted in the mob dining room looks like hes got the pants pulled down over his boots.

....and there's tons of SWAT type boots on the market from any number of manufacturers, so finding the correct pair would be fairly difficult. :lol

From the pics I've seen so far, his BDU type pants have the normal thigh pockets like BDUs have, but it appears there's also smaller pockets under them farther down the pant leg.

The pants are ACU (Army Combat Uniform) in black. They are basically BDU pants with a few extra pockets. Check out your local Army Surplus store to find the correct style, they're everywhere now...you may have to get the standard army digital pattern and dye them black as I haven't seen them in black at retail.

these pics are the stunt double that is at sdcc while ray stevenson was signing autographs people could get pics with the vest

damn what did he do buy one of the vests used in the movie? That is dead on from what I can see!

Cool. :) The only thing I really remember seeing on the backside of the vest during the movie was a single line of the MOLLE attachment loops across the shoulder blades, where as there's a bunch of those strips on the front side. Once the DVD comes out, there's more ability to pause shots needed like that for reference.:lol

Here's a couple Flickr pics I found of a costumer at SDCC '08:

Doing the Punisher for Halloween one of these years is on my list - will anyone here be offering War Zone vests? The other components (boots, shirt, pants) can be 'generic' but the vest has to be as accurate as possible.

well I finally gave up trying to find one close to the movie vest and made my own. The rest of the costume is still a work in progress. Yes the skull is not accurate to the movie same style but I made it a lot brighter and dirtied it up a bit.

were you going to lighten up the skull like in the movie? his seems extremely faded.... did you build off of the airsoft vest?............either way it still looks awesome, good work

the vest was made from scratch, I couldn't find an airsoft vest close enough to bother with. As for the skull as I said I wanted it a lot brighter I felt it was way, way too faded in the film.

Cant believe i missed this post all this time!! Though i did like the from scratch build, its very impressive...only second to the scowling pout :p

Seems somewhat of a moot point now but the vest is an OTV interceptor vest.

great work regardless :D

I'm glad to see so much love for Punisher: War Zone here! I loved the film! It was even TRUER to Garth Ennis' Punisher comics than the previous film with Thomas Jane! Ray Stevenson IS Ennis' Frank Castle brought to life!!! :cool:thumbsup

I AM disappointed that the skull on the costume is so subdued. I thought the Thomas Jane film handled the skull perfectly.

I just wish moviegoers had shown the film more love. With a take of only $7 million or so at the box office, Punisher: War Zone is definitely one of the most underrated and under-appreciated comic book movies of all time! And sadly, that low box office take means we won't get to see another film starring Stevenson. :(

Oh, also, I'd feel remiss if I didn't point out that this thread really belongs in the Replica Costumes Forum. ;)

I don't think it is an OTV, or an Improved OTV, or a Modular Tactical Vest (MTV).
It looks similar, but is just a movie prop made by looking at pictures of the real thing and the comic.

Only $7 million for Punisher 2? Wow.

yeah I have to agree with terryr the vest was custom made for the movie, looking at the OTV it is not very close to most of the details of the film vest, would take a ton of modifications to make it fairly close.

Question? What did you use for material? I bought a vest but it's a little too tight for me. I got a buddy to paint the skull the for me but I'm looking for something a little bigger for the most part. Something similar to the Thomas Jane version.
