Proton Pack and Trap Mark 2

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

nope, that ain't going to work... how safe is it to put tape over the back of electronics?

This surprisingly DID work...wish I would have thought of it before I messed around with the glue...

It's odd... one sanding and one paint came out perfectly on the front of the MB. But the Back? A bit more of a challenge..

For all intents and purposes, minus the missing part, it's done. I've got to glue in the remaining pieces to help support the taps. I've got to hook up the sound wires again, and I've got to find a good speaker that I can hook in as well..either through glue or screw....

but other than that, Proton Pack Mark 2 is done...

And just for a comparison, the first pack, which is now sitting in pieces since this one came together so much better. Whether I repair it, or trash it and start anew with another alkaline shell for the display pack is still up for debate...

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Not to be a critic or anything but do you know the stickers on the trigger box should go above the switches not below?

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

yeah, that was my mistake... I thought for sure I had it right, then when I decided to look at photo's for the rest, naturally first reaction was 'oh crap' ;)

For all intents and purposes. done...minus the bumper and sound hook up. God, I have the bulk of Danny Devito and Bud Bundy ...

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Assuming we don't get rained and downpoured on tommorow, I'm going to finish things up...

Today, I put the extra intensify sticker in the proper top position. I repainted the top tip of the proton gun silver instead of it's current black....and finally got the gun hook situated right.

Tomorrow, I'll hook up the sound, install the speaker, and put on the remaining stickers and will be done untill the bumper arrives..

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Really nice work. The Proton Pack is one of my holy grail items to add to my collection one day. Seeing yours makes me sad as I know that day is a long way away.

A few more pics to come of today's progress... Speaker is in, and of course it doesn't work..

so either the amplifier, the speaker, or the battery holder is now messed up....gotta figure out which tomorrow..then, all that's needed to complete is bumper.

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Today we spent 3 hours re-arranging wires. I took the proton gun apart, and t he troubles started there ;o). 3 hours later, the lights on the pack and gun finally turn on and off with one switch... but the switch I was going to use to hook up the fire sound effect doesn't work the way I need it too...

If you hook it up, the lights on the bar graph don't work. Press the button, however, they work....let the button go, the bar graph stays in fire mode.

What type of switch do I need for the intensify button that I can hook up lights and sound too? Can I hook up a positive sound and light wire and a negative sound and light wire on a two pronged switch and have it work OK?

All day job to get the sound wires routed, carefully cut, inserted, tested, and hot glued in. Speaker works without the amplifier board..so I ditched that and the speaker is hooked direct. The lights are now set so both turn on and off with the activate switch. Both battery packs will be attached to the back of the MB for easy reach and switch.

Tomorrow I'll hot glue the wires onto the speaker, since I think that works better than the solder I have. The pack will be closed up for good until the bumper gets here. The remaining parts attached by tap screw will be glued on for extra security. The Vent gun light will be replaced with a brighter LED. and two more will be added as well..

with any luck, can finish everything up tomorrow..

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Closed the unit up... Sound works. Lights work. Soldered remaining connections. Batteries attached to back of pack for easy removal.

Gotta hot glue the red light into place as well as the lights on the pack. Once it looks as pretty as I can make it, final pictures..

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Light switches for cycletron are hot glued in. tape wasn't keeping them in place. Pack is closed up. sound and lights are working.

But quick question. What's a good light to use for the gun vent? I bought a 'super bright' LED from Radio shack. Thing was duller than the stock unit.... any suggestions appreciated!

Proton Pack Sound Test - Final setup - YouTube

Minus one part that has yet to arrive, it's only minor nit picking things to finish now.

The paint by the gun window got chipped off when removing excess glue. will either fill it in with magic marker, or dab some spray paint on it lightly. The Repaired Ion handle in the back doesn't look as 'pretty' as it once did, but it'll work for what I need it for.

I also still need to drill the hole a bit bigger for the filler plug hose to properly fit in. Other than that, proton pack mark 2 is finished.

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Four months later, Proton Gun Mark 2 is finally complete..

This phone camera stinks at night pictures.

Things done today
- more glue to weld added on.
- primed handle
-painted handle
-sanded down handle
-straightened switches as best as possible.
- drilled holes for speaker waves to 'breath'
- and installed new gun push button so lights start up properly and sound can be hooked up.

Things to do tomorrow:
- Drill hole into ribbon cable so that can stay in place.
- Fill up hole in Injector tubes from ill fitting dowel rod (only one proper size left at sears)
- further sand One filler tube down flat, repaint, and glue.

After that, EVERYTHING will be done on the pack minus bumper. Which means I'm probably due for something to go wrong soon :)....things are going far too well!

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Only one part left to arrive, and two stickers on the N Filter to place.. The Circular red line and the white danger one..

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

Not sure if you sorted out the problem with your amp, but judging from the picture you're not supplying it with enough power... the amp is 12V and your 4 AAs are only delivering 6V.

Re: Proton Gun Mark 2

The throwers handle tubes are 1.25 the 3/4 crap MMM includes is not even close to being the correct size. Other than that ur pack looks nice

thanks... I was thinking of supplying the lights and amp with more power, just wasn't sure on how much more. I'm also going to drill another hole through the MB so the light battery wires are not hanging out and can attach to the back..

So nice to hear positive re-enforcement for a change....
