PropShop announces TFA Props!

These are from the Wired article. Not "THE" screen used one, by certainly A screen used one. I definitely see a hint of blue, but your saber is way too far off IMO. It should definitely be predominately black.

So the lightsaber in the video is mine, and yes I'm pretty disappointed with the color. Does anyone have good reference shots of the screen used one? Was it blue? Because for a company that is claiming that they are producing the closest thing to the original prop, I would hope the original was blue. I emailed them today with comparisons to their promotional shots and is substantially different.

do you know if there is a limit to kylo sabers? see my problem is this.. its roughly 1200 bucks now ( i wish i knew what everyone in the US is paying to get it to your door) and then in 3 years these things will be selling for 3k... even though the price is just out of reach for me now, come 3 years ill NEVER be able to afford one...

It looks like only vader and Fin have the 500 piece limit. I just looked and didn't see a limit on the rest. Who knows at this point. These can be sold out once rogue one comes out or still available after tfa 3. Greed is a powerful Ali

There are some 3d printed ones on ebay for 15 dollars and some I have seen in resin cast. I was thinking about getting one for the lower than low price just to have one. My focus is mainly with the original 3 films however a small tfa tribute has been intriguing. My collection dollars are staying with episode 3/6 but I don't mind budget builds for tfa.

is it possible for someone who owns one to maybe point out exactly which pieces are aluminum and which are 3d printed? i believe the "cage" at the bottom of the hilt is 3d printed, with a aluminum red cap

i was curious if the cross guard emitter, that section where the slice is cut out exposing the greeblies inside, where the red wire bends into, if that outer body is metal of 3d printed. the video kinda confused me on if the top part of the hilt was 3d printed or just inside the emitters

You can actually estimate the shipping prices by going through the checkout process. What sucks is in addition to the high shipping, you get hit with sales tax too. Total comes out to $1525 to $1550 if I'm not mistaken

Yeah I bought the Bladerunner PKD... 899 USD...and if the price wasn't high enough, by the time it hit Canada it was 1500 dollars Canadian...

so if this starts at 1250 USD... ugh.

I traded a LOT of props to get that little gun.

And Kylo saber is about as wanted, but no way I can pull that off unless I hit a windfall.

Yea im hoping to order by the holidays. Hope they are still available then :unsure

It's pretty nice however I just can't justify it. I would buy a real graflex and hold it for a while and use it for trade bait later on for the kylo before I shell out that kind of money. The uncertainty I see here is the amount of pieces from star wars disney. They are really over doing it with merchandising so who knows what the future holds on this stuff. They are not stupid and I'm sure the think tank has explored the popularity of master replicas and FX props. These things may just keep coming as long as they are selling.

I have the other Kylo Ren posted here and mine is not painted Blue at all. I do not see any Blue anywhere on mine.

It looks like they inadvertently left out a layer of black over the blue. You can see there's some blue in the others but it's layered by black. Send it back...

I wonder how the Kylo from a fan made run I'm a part of will compare to this one as far as dimensions. I already know I like the fan made one more as far as materials and I know the paint job will be top notch.

The best part I enjoy to most from fan made runs here is the group input and effort. So many opinions and study are put into many of these runs. Not too sure if the license merchandise has the same attention and love in the detail.

I spoke to a representative on their customer service line and they confirmed they received my email and pics which they would send to propshop for review. We'll see what they say.

Thanks. I'm curious to see how they respond, man... Is it too early to start thinking upside down bi-plane stamps and Star Wars props... Not a new question I'm sure.

Yeah, in addition to shipping you pay customs as well. Final cost when I ordered came to just over $1500 shipped. And mine does not have quite that level of blue either.

For the price I wouldn't hesitate to send anything back that I wasn't entirely happy with. These things are still WAY overpriced in my book. But hey you get a medallion and a wooden box.

Yes yours looks good.Could you make some pics outside the house under daylight(not in the direct sun)?Thats the only way to see how its really painted.

It is becoming apparent these Ren sabers are not as meticulously replicated as they would have you believe.
When paying a premium for what is promoted to be almost identical to the original, one would expect a more consistent finish. Very disappointing.

The size issue with many of the fan made Ren sabers show one of the main issue with fan made items. If you can't get accurate measurements of the real prop or an accurate replica, it's hard to get the size correct. That is an important part of having a good replica.
