PropShop announces TFA Props!

Yes exactly! I was so shocked at how thin the top part looked, and how small the greeblies were inside, it's not a bad thing to me, just something I never noticed before. This is one saber's if I had the money would buy in a heartbeat

Yea I am really hoping I can swing getting this one later this year.

It's here! Packaging is pretty secure. Outside shipping box with crate suspended inside on Styrofoam corners. Actual box inside crate also with Styrofoam spacers. Quality cut out foam houses the medallion and paperwork, including cleaning cloth, stand, and lightsaber separately.

Lightsaber has good heft in hand, but is lighter than anticipated. Propshop says it is predominantly cast aluminium. Seems legitimate, weight is consistent. Emitters look to be 3d print material. Paint job is fantastic, but I don't think I'll be handling it much, as a few paint bits came off on my hand and bedspread during unboxing.

Greeblies look amazing, detail is incredible. Especially in the cut out sections. I will post pics shortly.

wow, thanks for the pics! Quick question, are the paint flakes coming off of the detailing or base coat or do they seem to be excess? Is this a potential problem that might end up stripping the whole prop?

Seems like it's probably excess, I don't see any obvious spots with a light coating, but there is no sealant or anything on this piece, and almost all of the detail is painted. Very much a more fragile piece than a graflex, strictly due to the level of detail in the paint and production process. Makes me wonder how many of these they burned through while filming.

And to be clear, it was about 3 or 4 small, glitter sized bits that I noticed during my light handling. Nothing too extreme, but enough to take note.

Now we can finally put this old argument to rest... How do you think the Force FX lightsaber stacks up in diameter? I saw a video of it at SD Comic con and it looked way thicker than everybody thought it would be. Of course the relative dimensions are still wrong on the FX.

Hasbro is thicker. But closer in size than the replica I bought off here.

You can definitely play with the Hasbro now and feel it's close to the movie prop. That's cool.
